March event a waste of time 70 plus hours and nothing (update 16/4 it was a meltdown I had, sorry)

I used to love this game, I used have to find reasons not to play it i.e. do house work first. But after this event I am done with it. I have ploughed 70 plus hours into the March event laying waste to machines and rivals and nothing, and as I have Asperger’s if I fell hard done by something I won’t go back to it and this is how I feel now about this game. And honestly I did love this game but no more. And yes I’m level 31.

It would help if you tell us why you are so frustrated.

Well the March event is for new Items and I have nothing, the Level 4 Rivals are meant to drop a new weapon and all I get are 5 star attachments and a 1 star kvm. And as I type this I realise how pathetic I sound, which makes me want to quit even more hahahaa.

You may want to try the Generation Zero Discord, see if anyone’s willing to trade or give you the Experimental Kvm 58 if you’re unlucky with drops from Machines.

I’ve done everything in this game by myself, I know I could ask someone but it would not feel the same as if I had earned it myself, and I would feel like a cheat to myself.

Its been couple of months now and i still dont have the exp pvg90 sniper from any max level rivals. Iam level 31 and killed countless max level rivals. Im starting to think it is non existent.

I remember it took me quite a while to get my hands on the Experimental Kpist. That’s just how it is. Kill lots of Machines, level up the regions and uh, let your Rivals grow :sunflower:

I share your frustration. My rivales (about 15 so far) do also drop nothing. No guns and not even attachements. I only get crafting materials, fuel cells, emps and ammo.

But I suggest you to rename this thread to something more constructive. This way you maybe reach a dev and they might tweak the drop rate.
I got the same advise with my threads about how to improve GZ as a FPS. I didnt see it at first because I was so frustrated but to stay objective and constructive is important if we want to change something.

I’m just getting it off my chest, as I have Asperger’s if I receive bad service or I find something unfair I will refuse to have anything to do with it. I used to love this game as you might see from so of my posts (like wishing the GZ team happy birthday on the 26th), my steam review (which I state how this game got me back into gaming and it did help with my mental state) the GZ FB page as well. But as I now feel cheated and pathetic I can’t continue with the game.

Except, that’s not what happened here, is it?

You knew the experimental weapons dropped completely randomly. I assume you’ve looked up the systems to improve your odds (Level 4 Apocalypse Tanks, killed on Guerilla difficulty.) You still knew this was a dice roll.

The dice roll itself isn’t inherently unfair. Sometimes they do not come out in your favor.

Now, I’ll agree, the Rival farming system is kinda tedious. But, on the whole, this isn’t an inherently unfair system, just a grind heavy one.

Also, there’s no shame in reaching out to others in the community. When the consolation prize for remaining inflexible is walking away with nothing, it’s time to step back and reevaluate your behavior.

If there are people in the community who would be happy to trade for duplicate experimentals you’ve obtained, or just straight up give you an extra KVM they’ve received, that’s the developer intended method of drop protection.

If the option wasn’t supposed to be there, it wouldn’t be there. For example: Destiny and The Division have absolutely no player to player trading mechanisms. Being able to pass loot to another player is intended. This is to say nothing of soulbind systems, which are common in MMOs, and prevent you from trading certain items.

You’re right, it won’t be the same, it’s not the same kind of rote activity that grinding up rivals is, but that doesn’t make it less valid. You’re still finding a way to obtain the weapon without breaking the established rules.

Now, hacking your save file to add one? That would be cheating, but even if it’s just hunting rivals with someone else? That’s entirely acceptable within the rules offered to you.

I have been grinding away for 70 hours (which is almost 3 days in total) since this event started, I started playing this game in August 2019, I’ve had no issue with the weapon drop until the March update, since that release I have had only attachments and a 1 star kvm that’s the only weapon that has dropped and this was from a doggo. I understand that I could ask someone for a trade but to me that would be cheating, but could just be my Asperger’s.

That’s, kinda, the point. Getting help from others, either with farming, or from them straight up giving you the drop you want, is not cheating. It’s an acceptable option within the rules of the game as presented. While you can choose to abstain from taking that option, it is a bit unfair of you to say that option isn’t available. I’m sympathetic that this can cause psychological discomfort. You need to ask, if it’s worth pushing through that or not, because clearly your previous methods aren’t working for this. Pointing to your autism informs why the idea of taking a new approach is stressful, but it is a choice you can still make.

RNG is RNG, I got my Experimental LMG on the fifth rival I dropped during this event, with the difficulty set to Guerilla. It is out there, but it is a dice roll. In fact, with less than a dozen rivals downed in this event so far, I’ve gotten two Experimental weapons. The drop rate is completely random. If you’re having poor luck, the intended solution is to work together with others.

Have you tried multiplayer? i Had luck Yesterday, one LMG dropped from an APOC Tank at Himfall island, it was my 46 th rival , the 13th in a multiplayer session, all efforts to obtain one in Solo session were futile.

Cheers I’ll give it a go, but the only rivals I’ve been getting are FINIX harvesters even on Himjfell, no APOC tanks what so ever.

I see that there is a Mandela effect where people are thinking that rival Apo tank is the best source for 6* KVM 59. While Apo rival tank can give 6* KVM 59 as well, it’s more of a even chance between Apo tank and others (FNIX tank, FNIX harv, FNIX hunter, apo hunter).

Also, “trying too hard” could be a thing in the game as well, where when you play whac-a-mole with rivals, your chances may drop even further down.

I don’t have any conclusive evidence to these but what i do have is my own experience;
I play casually and i got my 6* KVM 59 from the 7th rival i killed since March update. Out of the 7, only one was lvl4 Apo tank (killed in MP). The rest were hunters and harvs (killed in SP). And only one rival was lvl3 (military hunter) where the rest were lvl4. The rival that gave me the KVM was lvl4 Forest region FNIX harv. Oh, game difficulty setting on all kills was (and still is) Guerilla. So, there’s that.

Actually it´s random, most of the rivals i took down were in the Forest, Marshlands and Mountain regions while playing in Skirmish and Guerrila.
Then i started playing adventure because the clock was (supposedly ) ticking , and then after some rivals, finally an Apoc class Tank level 4 rival dropped the KVM.
So i would say, there are better chances to find the weapon in Adventure mode from an Apoc class, good luck unlucky ones!

In my personal experience APOC class Hunter rivals yield better results. My exp LMG, Kpist and PVG90 all dropped from Hunters not Tanks.

I hope you manage to grab one. Multiplayer might be a way to go. That way each person gets their own loot table and if someone else gets a duplicate one they might be willing to share.

Rebus, I just want to remind you, you’re not alone in this. There’s are people in the community who are willing to help you. We are a community, after all.

Cheers, on reflection I think I might of had an Asperger’s meltdown, I have to remember not to get too emotionally involved with games. I do have to admit that the community is great.
