So me and a friend is playing a multiplayer session. Is there a way for me to start at new singleplayer game so I can play when he is not available? Seems to me that even if I create a new character, it spawns in to our multiplayer world.
In short, can you have more than one game at a time?
If you are on PC you can switch out your savegame. First turn off Steam cloud save or it will mess with the save. The save can be found in your documents folder C:\Users<your name>\Documents\Avalanche Studios\GenerationZero\Saves. Make a backup of your co-op save (copy and paste) and then just delete the save from the documents folder and you can now start a new game.
Interesting. So, if my multiplayer partner is the host for our MP game, can I just delete the save file all together? I mean, it’s saved on his end and he invites me to his multiplayer session
No, you need your save as well, your things will not be saved on your friends save. What you do is make a new folder anywhere, I made one on my C harddrive that I call Generation Zero Backup. In that new folder create another new folder that you name so you know what save is in there, like the name for this folder is co-op. Then copy your save file, paste it into the new co-op folder you made, then you can delete the save from Documents and start a new game.
Then you do the same thing with your single player save. After that you can just switch save whenever you want to play co-op or single.
Just after everytime you play, you make a backup. Want to play single, go into Documents and to your save, delete the save, go to your backup, copy the save you want to play on and then paste that save into the right place in Documents.
Thanks man. That’s really helpful
There’s currently no way of starting a new game without messing with your save files. Do so at your own risk.
