When on ps4 me and my friend tried to cross the first bridge and I couldn’t I’m level 24 my friend is level 8.

Not everyone has this problem , the developers are aware of this and a patch for reported bugs is coming this week . 
i hope this helps in someway to troubleshoot your problems untill the devs get a fix in
