My friend runs slower than I walk

Basically his sprinting speed is so slow that I can walk past him as he runs, its really hampering our play sessions, since he lags so far behind the group he often doesn’t get to help in fights.

What are your NAT types? Do you both have great connection? It seems like he isnt able to communicate properly to your router. Assuming your host.
Still assuming your host- Try having him be host and see if there is a difference.

i think more information is needed in general her

  1. What platform
1.b : if on pc what configuration do you guys use ( OS , GPU , CPU , Memory )

  2. do you have some information about your network like Killer 3691kill2 mentions ?

  3. What skill do both of you have ? Do you have skill that increases your running speed ?

  4. Is this happening even after both of you restart your Pc’s / consoles ?

  5. Could you think of anything that might have caused the issue ? like when it started and what you did before this happent or what happent between you two ? ( your friend could have been killed and his character might be slightly bugged

  6. Can you try to find a workaround for the issue maybe ? doing different stuff to find out if something helps ?

all of these info might help developers to find the issue if this is an actual bug ( ref to point 3 that might mean that this might not be a bug ? )

This is still an issue 3 years later…
I had the exact same issue when I was the host, i.e. I ran way slower than my coop players.

This has nothing to do with NAT or networking… it’s a graphics/apex engine/fps issue.

My solution: lower my graphics settings to the lowest on all settings, then the problem went away, I also changed the resolution down from 3440x1440 to 1720x720 to get a fps around 60-80 depending on the situation in the game.

If I play alone I can have my graphics settings way up on high since my own running doesn’t affect the npc running, but during multiplayer I cannot since the other players affect my running.

I found this workaround after some googling about the Apex Engine, and it looks to be a graphics engine issue where FPS dictates how fast you can run, so if other coop players have higher fps than you, you will run slower than they do (even if you sprint).

My guess is that this feature/bug has something to do with when (and how) the engine processes coop players positions in conjunction with viewing distance… but all I know is that lowering my own graphics settings work when I host the game (I haven’t tried joining a game).

FYI, apparently, if the host is the player with the most powerful hardware, it runs better for everyone else.
