My QOL and Feature ideas

Hello dear Players and People at Avalanche

I had a feature and QOL list slowly compiling in my head during GenZero gemaplay and I decided to share it.

Everything below is my opinion, it could be proven wrong, bad or terrible, nothing here is a must do, this game is amazing as it is, absolutely worth the money.

List of QOL improvements (no specific order):

  • Show distance between a map marker and you location
  • Designated buttons for binoculars and gas mask
  • Quick main weapon switch button (Q)
  • Bullet type switch button
  • Ability to use healing items from inventory (right click use)
  • Inventory sort button (by item type: ammo, weapon, healing item, throw-able)
  • Mark last death location on the map

Possible new features:

Car alarms:
Some cars may have working sound alarm (medium lure) which turns on when door or trunk is opened, hacker perk may auto disable them. Tiny flashing light on a car dashboard could indicate if alarm is present

Basic crafting
Lets say we could scrap unused weapons and they attachments and receive scrap parts ā€œscrapsā€. Scrap parts could be used to craft exotic looking / rare weapon attachments or skins / bullets / etc. This would be done at crafting stations (just as we have bike stands at safehouses) or crafting stations could be just few on the whole map. This could be very basic crafting system with just one type/rarity of ā€œScrapsā€. X number scarps = crafted item.

Temporary buffs/boosts
Food items or drugs found on the map could give short time boost in some player stats. examples: faster reload for 2 minutes; no weapon sway, night vision, faster running, faster stamina recharge, defence increase, stealth…

Melee attacks/weapons
Yes some people asked for melee, and yes it would make no sense with blunt weapons since Machines are huge, heavy and hard…
But…
What if your melee weapon was an electric shock batton which would temporary disable a Machine like EMP does
Or…
A spear with some sort of thermite injecting tip which would set enemy on fire at least disable some armor plates

Rare ā€œmodernā€ cycle
Very ultra rare blueprints of experimental military bike. (regular bike with some shimano gears, slighlty faster and better for inclines)

In game Polaroid camera and photo album
Fun and cool and original

Some things you should never do (my opinion):

Make game easier
Add thirst and hunger
Battle Royale
Vehicles (other than bikes)

Most important:
Never forget your playerbase are young adults who have patience, who enjoy slower paced tactical shooter with possible teamplay / Coop strategy. Not those who wish for PUBG, Fortnite, COD, DOOM, Wolfenstein, Overwatch, RUST, Minecraft clones etc.

Thank you very much!
Stay safe!

I like your ideas. I especial support the QOL and the crafting ideas.

I have these in other thread, which already talking some QoL. Lazy to link it here, so copied the text.

My small list of QOL

E = Double click E to open containers and wait, instead of holding E. (Gets really old after 100 boxes) Or single tap E and wait, no need to keep holding E.

Quick buttons for these:
Q = Take all from container
E = Take only selected.
These will eliminate constant mouse moves to ā€œtake allā€ and ā€œtakeā€.

Inventory sorting and automatic stacking. Including action bar. Weapons could fill ammo first, then inventory.

Make bullet type change button for weapons. If you have multiple types of ammo in inventory. Also include read out on ammo count what type is used. SP, FMI, AP, etc.

Auto-walk / auto jog, holding down that W for many hours is tiresome. Also should now affect bicycle.

Make game easier
Add thirst and hunger
Battle Royale
Vehicles (other than bikes)

Agree all on these, there is already too many BR’s, survival games. This game would definitely benefit by going it own separate course and offer something new, refreshing to gamers. Minor except is would probably accept those 80’s mopeds, those legendary Honda’s and others which very plenty. And was heavily used by youngsters.

My map always shows distance to markers. It is the 80s - there were no HUDs, just MAPS…

… (off topic) and with the upcoming Rivals release, it is no longer a map, it will be an intelligent display. I am very concerned, and I am already contemplating the angry posting I will submit five minutes after the game gets updated (proving that you can’t make everybody happy)!!!:wink:

(On topic) But I like a number of the proposals here (if some of the quick key functions could be adapted to consoles as well). One comment though:

There are certainly some old adults too. Now I feel excluded and offended

I thought Young Adults had no patience at all! I thought they wanted it all NOW (and then three weeks off to consider their Mental Health)…

I think the Rivals might give the Mental Health a kicking…

I want an AG4 six star and then I’m going to march about, picking fights with Dogs…

Disclaimer: this post is naughty. Please don’t read it if you can’t handle light adult content.

A young bull and his father was standing on a hill overlooking a beautiful meadow filled with cows. ā€œLet’s run down to the meadow and do a cow!ā€ the young bull suggests to his old bull father. ā€œNo sonā€, the old bull replies, ā€œlet’s walk down there and do them allā€.

You are right, @Bootie. Young adults have no patience at all :joy:

(I hope I didn’t earn myself three days quarantine)

I completely agrre to the QOL part , crafting and on the military bike ( or you mean experimental bike  ) but i think that they should add some kind of motorised vecicle .

Great ideas! i agree with everything but the vehicles part…and About Doom and Wolfenstein they have some crazy campaigns :open_mouth:
Another thing, the game could use a ā€œclockā€ to check the time of the day? would be cool i think

Just the perfect selection of super important QoL options found in basically every good game similar to GZ. Love it!

That would be just awesome.

It already shows distance. If I want to know my target range, I go to map and stick a marker when I reckon it is, and if I mouse-hover over it, it shows the range in metres. I’m on PC, perhaps it’s different on Xbox and stuff…
