I don’t see the point of this suit. The gas areas are rather small, they pose a welcome challange, and meds are plenty in the game.
Also you would need some kind of downside. As we don’t have armor in the game, there is not the usual swap-against-gas-suit mechanice which would leave you vulnerable against conventional attacks. People would just wear it all the time in order to be prepared.
This is what I am a bit afraid of…
Then, it is their game, if they want to do this, I won’t tell them not to.
In the end, as said, should they choose to implement this, it is 100% optional, up to you if you want to use it or not, and I just LOVE optionality.
I fail to get though why some want things to become so simple, the game would so to speak play itself?
I mean, I want it much harder, more ‘realistic’, more threatening, this would give me a sense of accomplishment.
To me, the game is so easy it became actually BORING…
So, why want people the game to become… well… like instant-gratification, almost?
Please do not get me wrong here, I probably again put it very badly, though it is just a question, I would like to understand the “need for more simplicity” in GZ…
It allows you to be impervious to gas, for a period. Sometimes I run out of medkits entirely and why am I pumping them out? It’s not a nuclear explosion - it’s a bit of gas, which in the 80s was counteracted by an NBC suit and a gasmask. We have one, why not the other - they were standard.
I want to explore the gassy areas, and take a bit of time to make sure I’ve missed nothing. There’s always good stuff within and frequently I am very short of good stuff - Hunters drop nothing worth having - Harvesters drop nothing worth having - Runners drop low-grade stuff and almost never any rockets. That leaves Tanks as being the only thing worth taking down - all the rest give cr@p.
After any serious engagement I have to go shopping before the next - if you don’t then bless your algorithm. If there’s a suit and you don’t want it - don’t put it on. Go and suffocatee, see if I care.
I’d vote that it takes some times to put it on and that it takes damage from conventional attacks so that you are not supposed to wear it all the time as it is rendered useless quickly.
Now, in hindsight, I actually get the idea why such suit would be a neat add-on.
I understand the logic behind it.
Actually… you know that some machines nuke you with gas?
This might actually be a good time to suggest to upgrade the effectiveness of said gas.
And for when you kill a Harvey, make the gas cloud stay a while, deadly…
This would make the suit SO much more valuable?
I like it, but of course, exactly as in real life, there is a flat-out panic to put the damn thing on, 'cos it’s not cool and it’s HOT, so maybe it’d slow you down, or deplete your sprinting ability.
The shout goes: “GASGASGAS!!” and everyone is struggling with the pack and the trousers and all sorts, to say nothing of the gasmask.
In each attack, you’d have to judge if you had time to go hunting through your inventory to put on, trousers, jacket, rubber boot covering and gloves. Alrernatively you run away…
@Bootie
I can surely get behind that.
Nice one, sir!!!

How about vulnerability to Ticks?
As in: they tearing your suit?
Where this came from: Ticks are annoying… and nothing more.
Correct?
They jump at your face, but hardly scratch you.
Correct?
What if these tried to rip your suit open, or rip your mask off?
It would make that silly “attack” finally doing SOMETHING… give it some sense…
Oh, IF the attack succeeded, would it be reasonable it would be destroyed, do you need to find another?
