NEW DAWN UPDATE - (Discussion)

If I read this correctly : they will ruin another region
Right ?

The forest was my favorite place to go hunting now it is almost empty
Now I moved to the farm land
I hope it won’t be deserted by machines

Base assault is fun… once in a while
And I have no interest in Base defense

I did not get into to game to play a “survival game”, there are plenty of those around
I want random epic fight fights against tons of machines
I want to hide in a barn because I aggroed too much stuff
I want city fight in Ostervik against Hunters

Right

I also dont understand their obsession with base assault and defense, they are ruining the game!

I can understand the need for extra income, making extra weapons and base defense Dlc…but not the part about having so many control points, its lazy and its dangerous due to cleaning that region from machines.

It’s not a scam, guys… Be nice towards the devs even if you disagree with how the game’s being designed. Feedback is best when it’s given politely.

I’m looking forward to the bases, the thought of taking the region back from FNIX by building resistance bases sounds pretty cool to me.

Then why did they pull the rug out from under me and sell me a different game? Lol

It’s harsh but I gotta agree with Badusername. GZ is a fundamentally different product compared to it’s initially release and advertisements. Sure one could argue games evolve over time, but they are either an MMO like Final Fantasy 14 or an early access game. And to be honest GZ since the very start has felt like early access, but with fancy wordings and buzzwords. Who is this game for even now?

I dont consider this a “scam” but its been going in a direction that is not the best one for everybody, only for a few.
Players that like free PVP games, or games with a lot of base building.
The problem is that base building is quite limited over here, this is not The Forest or ARK survival.
So what happens is that the players that loved GZ go away because dont like empty fields with no machines.
And the players that are the target audience for these same changes will be bored after 1 or 2 months.
Everyone loses.

It seems I’m not the only one not looking forward to tomorrow’s update.
I’ll spend today roaming the Farmlands with a nostalgic final few fights and then leave it for a week or so. Perhaps I’ll turn the Xbox back on after reading a weeks worth of feedback on here. Hopefully if the feedback is bad and the Devs actually read it ,then they might work on something that gives an option to turn all this base defence/assault stuff off. Give us an option…please.

I’ll be honest Ive been terrible with gz updates this year, this one has crept up on me as well even though the date was in the back of my mind. Its literally tomorrow

I would like to see from the developer what percentage of the players wants/wanted it, because if it turns out that it is the minority, I would be interested in the reason why the players are paying or have paid for it, because if the majority suddenly goes then if the alarm bells ring for the developers only then it will be difficult to get them back.
I got this game shortly after it came out, it had a lot of bugs at first, but it got better because they listened to the players, which is also what GZ says in some reviews on Steam. Today I wouldn’t buy it anymore, at least not until the worst bugs like FMTel work properly, because I think the old one should work properly before something new comes along.

The game has been out for a good while now and recieved numerous content updates. It’s fine if you don’t agree with all of it, but don’t thow baseless accusations at the devs just because you’re displeased. It doesn’t do anybody any favors.

Furthermore it’s all just speculation if the Farmlands Region will see lesser machine presence because of the new control points. If anything, if we expect to see more FNIX bases in the area there will still be more epic battles to be had.

I would not rule out that the game could still be played as before if one is not interested in the new content.

Yes it is just speculation about the Farmlands but when we are not told what will be happening that is all we’ve got, but it is based on what happened in the Forest.

We will make a poll a few days after the update.
At least we will know the position of the forum members.

A poll sounds like a good idea :+1:

Before the update ships… What do you think, will there be such control points in the other regions, too in future?

Archipelago: No, I don’t think so. It’s too early in the game.

South Coast: Maybe in the upper west part of the region, but the rest already is full with anything else. And: it could make problems with the fnix rising dlc missions if there would be bases.

Mountain Region: if they don’t change the topology in many ways, I don’t see much space. Maybe just in the lower west end.

Marshlands and Northcoast: There, I guess, would just control points of soviet bases make sense.

I’m still excited how the game will change and maybe some day I will start a new game, just to see how it affects the story. We’ll see. Let’s hope, it’ll make sense.

It’s good to see you feeling a bit more positive about the game. I thought we lost you to the Dark side.

I’m excited for the update personally, instead hope that they fixed a few more of the bugs.

First impressions after just a few minutes:

  • game starts faster
  • map is smoother
  • all safehouses are gone again
  • a random seeker got in proximity of my Älgbacken defence and got shot
  • my reaper is gone (it was there for multiple weeks, I just destroyed some rivals a few days ago, therefore region level in farmlands just at 18 currently)
  • going prone from crouching stance now works as it should

Did a farmlands base assault within minutes of post update. Claimed my first control point near Lilla Hammarnäs however unlike the south there seem to be no machine spawns in the surrounding farmlands. Hope that is not a trend. Levelling up my character nicely thanks!

So…
Did the machines evaporate or not like in the Forest?

  • Only vote if you tried it out
  • It does not matter if you like the update or not, we just want actual real info about machine numbers.
  • Be Honest
Are there less machines at the Farmlands?
  • Yes
  • No
  • Unclear
