New enemy types - Remade

It can just be faked.
It does not really have to be actual reloading, IMHO.
Thoughts?

Sir, I am ALL for realism.
Well… realism but in the game’s reality, that is.
Naturally, we cannot forget, it still is a game, and therefore realism is not always a good thing, or even possible.
One of the main issues I have with the game, is the underwhelming performance of the machines, as well as their amount.
Considering the slaughter and damage these did, it cannot ever be done by ‘the few machines’ that we encounter.
Or, machines with such poor intellect.

I would very much like to see more realism in this regard, alas…
Instead of hunting machines, these should be hunting us, and with fairly high success.
BUT, that is me.
Not everyone agrees here, and I respect that.

Giving machines a limited amount of ammo though, seems, to me at least, a bit… less good… considering the above?

Thoughts, sir?

This is a good point and you’re probably right about this making the game too easy.
Perhaps the idea needs to go back to the drawing table. But I’m glad you like the idea of supply/repair vehicles! :+1:

Let’s say you can choose between taking out their escort and loot them, or destroy them to reduce the repair (ie respawn) rate of a certain area.
Thoughts on that?

Why?
Just fake reload, and you got a darn awesome idea here.
Add a ton of guards, make it lootable, brilliant.
I see no reason to change it?

I was refererring to the part with machines eventually running out of ammo, but I guess it wasn’t such a good idea.
But I think there should be some sort of strategic benefit if you manage to take down a supply vehicle. Perhaps they would grant some sort of experimental loot?

I also want to give @Flybye big credit for planting this idea in my head! :slightly_smiling_face:

A whole load of ammo?
Maybe a few weapon mods?
Oh, why not add ‘exclusive’ clothing to it, that has been released in the past, but no more?
Like maybe Easter clothing?
And maybe a few of those, what was it, cakes or so?

well i will not dismiss your ideas out of hand, but i think they will be pretty much impossible to implement in the current game engine.

Both ideas require modifieable ground and my understanding of things says that the map is static and unchangeable.

There could of course be a added layer on top of the “dead ground”, to allow some dirt to be blown away or something digging thru it, but it feels like a lot bigger issue than i logically can “guestimate”.

But i do enjoy the first idea tho, but i would rather have semi-stationary bots, completely hidden in the ground, undetectable and quiet untill you walk right over their trap.

I would guess that anything burrowning mechanically thru the ground would cause a low-pitched hum, probably detectable as vibrations in your feet as well, especially if its reaching “moderately fast” speeds…
So i guess you wouldnt have much of a surprise if its a speedy construction a 'la your initial suggestion.

The Forest game tried that with the Worm enemy. Many many players disliked it so much most mods come with a toggle to disable this enemy. I would agree on a enemy that can move through bunkers/doors easier when giving chase to players(or turrets like suggested above), but having enemies that can clip through things is not usually a favorable type.

I cannot possibly disagree more, but each to his/her own flavours :).

…Just sayin that hate is a very strong word that feels ridiculously underpowered to describe the red-glowing fury i feel about the phenomenon…
There has been way too many situations where ive been taking cover in a office or barn and so on, having cleared the room and with my back against the back wall, facing the only door in, then suddenly getting stabbed in the back by a hoard of hunters…

Already asked for sir.

AH! Those, i understand now, so before the Big “worm” monster was added as end game feature those “worms” were laying around…I did not know that.

Since both ideas are similar enough, both can be in the same topic as well. :slightly_smiling_face:
That being said, topic merged.

NTHPrawn (Discord) had the following idea:

“I was thinking that the repair bots could be about the size of a seeker but wont look identical(of course) and would attach themselves to damaged machines like leeches and would slowly repair them over time.
The rate of how fast they repair machines will depend on how much are attached to the damaged machine.
They would have the tools to do it, multiple arms…
They just patched up broken wires and stuff.
Maybe some machines could have repair machines already attached to them and in order to hurt it you would have to take out the repair machines first, kinda like a force field(but not literally)…”

So, we have bicycles.
We have hunters.

Sir Pig_Mac / Pig Mac (Discord) had the brilliant idea to create a new enemy type, let’s call it The Chaser.
It’s a Hunter on a bicycle.
Yes, you heard it right!
This one would ride a bicycle that has a police light on the rack, as well as a police siren.
The wheels would be decorated by playing cards.
The machine would feature “a Mini Sniper Rifle” shooting 5.56 rounds, semi automatic, while cycling.
Yes, with a decent accuracy.
Its main purpose would be chasing human cyclers, but these could also be used for ‘long range engagement’, in other words, to speedily cross a certain range to get in closer to its enemy, OR to take distance between the human enemy and himself.
In the front basket, it would have grenades it can throw when close enough.

Now, before I get bashed upon, let me explain just why I, the same one asking for “seriousness” and “realism”, really like this idea: Because it is just TOO crazy… not to have it.

Let me explain: Machines are supposed to be smart, correct?
Yes, even in GZ, yes.

Now, machines surely saw people use bicycles.
And noticed that, hey, it IS faster than running.
Here comes math: 1+2=5.
In other words, it would be logical for them to use bicycles.

Also, seeing the world is in a less than happy state, I think a wink at reality and seriousness would not be unwelcome.

Otherwise, when implemented seriously this could be a real bad thing to cross.
Even though hilarious (try to see a Hunter sit on a bicycle, driving around with the light and siren) at first sight, this could be a formidable opponent.
Much like a killer clown, so to speak: funny until it starts to chew on you.

Siren not 100% necessary.
The poor hunter pedaling along with it’s legs in 40 km/h, with a hydraulic sound, along with the clanking sounds from it hitting the knees at the handlebars on the rattly ‘old lady’-bike would already be enough to have to use one adrenaline to calm down from the silly sight and sounds.
I have to admit I laughed so much at the silly idea/sight that I hardly could type the rest of the ‘scenario’ in the discord.
So half of it is Xogroroth’s continued vision for the concept… While I’m still stuck giggling at just the sight of the hunter on the bicycle… clanking along the roads at random times.
(Yes. I’m still sober!)

True…
Let’s make the machine yell “TUUUTAAATUUUTAAA”… XD

Serious though, 90% is sir Pig_Mac’s idea.
Credit where credit due.

And my wife looked at me as if I had lost my mind, as I was grinning like an idiot on the mental image I had.
Just maybe, this might brighten everyone’s day up.
Or turn it miserable, as it would be a true pest to deal with (we have to stay in the reality of GZ, naturally!).

OH… for loot, how about 5-10 Semla, on top of normal Hunter loot?

Sir @Pig_Mac : thank you, for making my day a whole lot better.
It’s so nice to have my mind away from the pain, even if it was for ‘mere 5 minutes’!!!
Those were the best 5 minutes I had in the last 3 months, to be honest.
Thank you, so very much, sir.

What like this? But with the normal size.

Looks kinda goofy to me.
Come on guys, we need serious stuff, even if it´s a modified Hunter on a modified Bicycle looks kinda silly.

“Why so… serious…?”

I do understand, hell, I am as said so pro serious and all, but this was just too good to not have…

I could even come up with a story behind it from the machine/AI perspective.
