Non-Cooked grenades blowing up players

ok so this happens on rare occasions , but have noticed it, more than a few times.
throwing a grenaide without cooking it ( holding it with fire button) , sometimes makes the char throw a invisible grenaide which later ( maybe 3 seconds , not 2 or 4 , and five is just way out there ) blows up the player at center point. will try and get a vid of this to help.
pc win10 - alpine dlc , 16 gigs mem
note : no skill points put on Support tree ( throw distance , throw accuracy )

https://youtu.be/lfypyrzcMTo bad video , the genaide hit a tree branch and fell back down to me , i am sure this is happening though , as it has happened in open fields. will do another video.

This is apparently a rare bug that’s been ingame since launch. Some players get it, some don’t. I’ve clocked 750 hours and I’m positive I’ve never had it, but it does happen. I’m positive no-one’s been able to get this on video until now. @Bootie will be happy to see this for sure, he’s had the same issue.

Edit: If you can record it happening in a field all the better.

i’ll get more evidence and post all my specs

I’ve had what I believe to be the same issue. A few times I’ve experienced hitting the roof when throwing a hand grenade from a door opening (you practically have to throw it right in front of your feet to get it through a door opening), but I have seen a grenade successfully being thrown at an enemy just to explode in my face a few seconds later. I found using hand grenades so difficult that very early on I stopped using them. (Xbox)

Okay, here is the video of slow grenade - none of the Dogs are reacting, or firing rockets at me, so death is grenade and nothing else. You can see it in mid-air descending very slowly. I don’t “count” the death!

I will keep posting this until we get an acknowledgement!

P.S. - How do you get it to play in-page???

in the video you provided , its the safety rail slowing the grenade, i have duped here in this vid. https://youtu.be/hQGntKhZN0M
it is the same problem , but without a restriction in front of player.

Well, that’s just one I managed to record - it happens regularly for me, with nothing in front at all. It doesn’t hit the rail - the trajectory is way above the rail, and trajectory matters as we have found trying to get them through doorways! I’ll get it again, but this is the first time I’ve recorded it. And the ones you did, fell normally, so there was no explosive hit on you. It happened again just after and killed me.

And watching them again, yours visibly hits the rail, but mine doesn’t - it drops very slowly from above the eyeline and explodes in front of me. So yours hits the rail and still drops out of damage range - mone DOES NOT hit the rail and yet drops so slowly that I take the full blast. Watch them again.

im certainly not trying to have a go at you , but trying to work out this and help , ty heaps and pls input more.
im wondering if it is a “barrier issue” , perhaps some objects in the word could have broader boundries than what is visible , but with that said im sure i have thrown grenades in open fields and had the same issue.

Well, it’s a pretty good example, and the best I’ve so far seen of the “Slooow Grenade” phenomenon.

Oh, and i never thought you were. Good research and attempt at reproduction, even if your wasn’t in the end the same. As soon as I saw the granade falling slowly I knew what was coming - it was just like before when I was standing in the open…

Does it make a difference if you throw a grenade upwards or down?

That’s because the grenade hits something, like an object. I suppose the more realistic behaviour would be for it to bounce off in some random direction, but that’s how the grenade physics in this game work.

I’ve put almost 800 hours into this game, I’ve thrown a bazillion of grenades so I feel like know the mechanics by heart and I could immediately tell from the position you were standing in the video that the grenade was going to hit the railing.

Edit: The hitbox on certain objects can be hard to judge, I tend to throw grenades only when I’ve got a free, wide area ahead of me to avoid what happens in the video.

It doesn’t hit the railing - it comes in from above the screen, where it should! His video shows his hitting the railing, but not mine! I’ll get it on film again, if I have to - this is a bug. It happens to me a lot.

if you throw a grenade through a doorway, you have to have the graticule on the left hand door post, otherwise rthwe grenade hits the RIGHT doorpost, so trajectory matters. That grenade comes from over my right shoulder and drops slowly down in front of me and explodes. His hits the railing and drops out of sight - totally different!

you are both right , a object in game is not just what you see , object
red can be the object and black be the object hit box

I rewatched the video a couple times now. You’re aiming downwards, throw the grenade, it hits the hitbox of the railing, then bounces upwards before slowly falling, then explodes.

I know grenades behave this way when they hit an object.

Record yourself throwing them in an empty field to see if you can replicate it without anything possibly in the way.

No, @Zesiir, no. Have you compared the two? His indeed hits the railing, and falls normally, both times, at normal speed and out of sight, where it explodes without damage to him of even one point. Mine (what both times?) miraculously bounces into the air? Watch the speed of descent of my grenade - it floats down, it does not fall normally, and it takes 80% the first time and the second it simply killed me. I saw the speed of it descending at the time and thought, Rats, For what we are about to receive… And I was right. His descends at normal speed out of sight, both times.

I`m backing Bootie.
Sometimes it happens to me, it happened inside structures, in open fields and near objects and grass, and i never cook grenades in this game by choice.
What is strange in all of this is the randomness of the situation itself .
When it happens it´s like the grenade disappears or stays in my hand .
I play on the PS4.

I just threw a grenade downwards, it fell super slowly. Not 100% sure it did not hit the window frame, but quite.

I believe I’ve worked it out. Not the actual issue of slow grenades, but why it happened in your video. I went up there with a number of 'nades and positioned myself exactly where and how you stood and went to work.

Two bounce against the railing, one sorta ends up touching the hitbox. That one looks like what you experienced. My screen resolution and FOV also differ from yours. So you might not actually see it colliding sometimes. The slow falling grenades are definitely a bug, though. Conclusion; grenades are wonky. Need fix.

I’ve been out on a field and when I throw the grenade it exploded in my hand. The runners hadn’t seen me yet so they didn’t shoot until after the grenade exploded. That’s the only time it’s happened for me and I’ve played many many hours.
