If there is fast travel option when not in combat why not adding a wait option too? it will be very useful when you are hiding and waiting for the machines to go.

They are not adding it vecause it already exist if you wait enough machines will leave .

Thats precisely the point, an option to wait so you dont have to waste your time.
Some games are slow-paced while other are fast-paced and if you don’t like spending time in slow-paced games, why the game needs to change for you? 
To get from point A to point B, there are several ways:
- go through anything and everything on your way there
- just leg it straight there, without shooting anything on your way
- go around and circle the machines
- wait until path clears and machines move away
