I have picked up a few answering machine messages and notes that I assume are related to missions that I haven’t picked up yet. what happens when I do pick up those missions? I know some missions are broken by picking locks or doing certain things out of order and that once a mission is complete, other mission items do not go into my log so will the picked up items go into my log or will I be unable to complete those missions?
I picked up a few of the missions that I had already found some mission items for and the previously discovered items did go into the log as they should have. this answers my question
Well, we had reports that when a mission is not done in the correct order, these can completely bug out.
Perhaps, they should make those items ONLY accessible when you are on the mission, to prevent total bollocks?
pretty crappy way of adding replay value to a game, forcing you to constantly restart over and over due to mission killing bugs.

one was an answering machine i think it said Veronika’s message to uncle Tobe. I think it goes to The Girl who cried Wolf. i just completed that mission but i have an empty space in my mission items. I lucked out on this one but not sure yet about some of the others
one of the items i picked up but don’t think i have the mission to is Kenneth’s plan. i asked on the discord but nobody knew the mission it goes to
was told the quest was Exchange student so i looked up where to start the quest and when i picked it up it completed itself with the note i had already picked up in my log,
i wonder why the answering machine message didn’t do the same for the other quest and maybe it possibly wasnt to that quest after all .

I had a problem with " exchange student ‘’ then i accidentally walked into location 'mission complete ’ 
if you need help with location i can private message you just say the word and i will load game and get you co-Ordinate’s, , coffee time
Okay ignore above post i did read it wrong , yes it completed because you went to location first with out knowing it was a mission , it had me all over town looking then i noticed a Check mark in log as complete as i had been in location of student before grabbing answer machine 
Looks like I was wrong and the message I found belongs to a different quest, Beyond the Barricade. The wiki has info on it so I will try to start this one when I get home and see how it goes. I think that it will work and the problem is just that mission items not needed to complete a quest won’t show up in your log after quest in marked complete. It’s still annoying but not a top priority problem.

Picking up items in the wrong order won’t necessarily break a mission. I’ve had a few where I picked up all the required items before getting the mission. The moment I got the actual mission, it got the Mission Complete message.
That said, there are a few key ones that will break horribly if you don’t do them in the right order. These usually involve having to kill something (ticks jamming equipment, runner draining power, etc) and if you kill the enemies before getting the mission or completing a previous objective in that mission, it will bug out, break, and you then can’t complete it.
Overall though, picking up things in the wrong order shouldn’t break the majority of missions.
