PS4: Can't throw anything [Hardware issue, try changing controller]

Ps4 user
from the beginning of the game I haven’t been able to throw any sort of distraction (fireworks, flares, gas cans, emp box, or boom boxes)
I don’t think that I’ve done anything to cause it since the game runs smoothly on my base ps4
please fix
LOVE THE GAME, I WOKE UP AT 3 IN THE MORNING PEEING MYSELF

BUT IT WAS WORTH IT

thank you for this astoundingly beautiful and complex game

edit: I have no special controller at my house and switching doesn’t seem to fix the problem. I can place boomboxes and explosives, but no throwing. Could you please post the ps4 controller mappings? Thanks for the quick response:) I rate the game 5 stars guys, LOVE IT:P

I have the exact same problem. Makes it a bit too challenging battling multiple enemies at once :stuck_out_tongue: Please fix, Avalanche.

I too am having the same issue since I have started playing. I am not using a special controller, and while I can use my binoculars and healing items, throwables do not work.

Wait, that being said, I switched to another controller and that resolved the issue. I did switch to a pro controller, not sure if that made a difference. I will do another test with my other standard ps4 controller.

Okay, so it was just my one controller. My other 3 controllers work fine.

Thanks! However does that one controller that doesn’t work with our game work with other games fully?

I’m using the standard ps4 controller and had to remap the buttons from R2 to R1 and L2 to L1, throwing works fine now.

I have the same problem, how do you remap the buttons?

Just go to the PS4 Settings Menu and then Accessibility, scroll down to Button Assignments and activate Enable Custom Button Assignments.

Nope. The 1st generation of PS4 controller, that came with the console.

And yes… All other games work fine.

The accessibility and swapping the button assignments worked here also, but far from optimal imo, as I’m so used to having R2 as trigger in all games. Would much prefer a fix so it works with the default assignments even on 1st gen PS4 controllers. Tried on both the controllers I have, and none of them work as intended for the game. (Both 1st gen)

Edit: Strangely enough it seems to work sometimes if I press down R2 and L2, but it isn’t consistent. It works maybe 1 times out of 10.

The problem is, that on some of the older controllers the R2 and L2 buttons are worn out and the sensitivity is messed up, for me in almost every racing game, maybe the devs can change pressure sensitivity for the R2 button. Sorry for my English. :slight_smile:

That is another problem I’m also having with this game, yeah. The controller deadzones seem a bit too sensitive. If I put the controller on the table in front of me while the map is on screen it starts scrolling sideways and also zooming.

Same thing for me im on ps4 pro. Cant use flares fireworks and radio, but can use boombox propane tanks fuel cell fine. M’y controller works fine in other games… Playing solo or in multi dosent change. I réinstalle tje game still nothing

Also when in map cursor moves Very Very slightly on its own makeing it hard to pin point locations.

Map cursor seems to have the same bug in coop PS4!
