[PS4] Joining a game needs to be streamlined

I am on a PS4 Pro and my friend has a standard PS4. The following info is for reference: We both have complicated networks, IE I am behind 2 routers. I have no guess as to how my friends internet provider is configured…It is literally “Hillbilly wireless”. We both show NAT2 but when we try and party chat, It requires multiple disconnect/reconnects before we will finally link up.
THE PROBLEM: Neither of us can join a game with the other. Only once were we able to connect and we played for several hours with no issue.
Generation Zero does not gracefully handle “unable to connect” situations. There is no way to back out of (or cancel) the “Joining Game/Connecting to host” message. I have tested many times and waited 10-15 mins with not a single error thrown. When this happens, the only option is to close the game. If the game would throw an error and allow you to back out and try the connection again, I could possibly get it to connect. (BTW the same issue exists for us in the game 7 Days to Die, but it will show an error message and allow you to try connecting again… and it will eventually connect for us). Thanks

Hi I am jake, I normally have this problem when I play 7 days,mg survive(don’t JUDGE ME),MHW,PSO2,and this. I fixed this issue with rebuilding me data in the safe mode, but the problem will come back at random so I do not have a perma fix for you. Someone on their team my have a save for you. I hope this at least helps you.,To get to the safe mode have your friend cut his console into the off mode, then have him reboot by holding down the power tell he hears a beep then have him click rebuild data, he can also find a video on youtube of how to acess it so it will give him a hands on guide.

i must say you are behind 2 routers ? is that right ? that sounds not right or should be fixed because being behind 2 routers in it self is a bad idea if you like to game and normally there should be no reason to do stuff like this.

In general i would actually recommend strongly just having one router … Though i suspect in a way that you dont have 2 routers maybe ? and one is a modem that can act as a router ? but should be set into bridge mode instead and then you use a router ? .

if that sounds more like your setup and you cant set it up to bridge mode you could set your router ( most support that ) as an access point instead ?

Nature of the beast, I am IT and live where I work. I therefore get free internet, there is a primary router for our property. To isolate all of my personal electronics and devices, I have my own router(own network). That puts me behind 2 routers. It works fine. I have a gaming PC I built and the PS4 Pro and both connect and run fine. Its only specific cases, like this game and 7 Days to Die that give me and a friend issues with connecting to each other.

Ahh i see … well thats a different thing if its because you need to seperate 2 networks … still not a fan of stuff like that :stuck_out_tongue: … again 2 routers easily can give you routing issues unless you forward all the ports needed properly … sadly i dont see this as an issue with the game because 2 routers still can cause the issues them self

Agreed, my connection is not perfect. My problem is that the game gives no options to cancel a connection. When I use my friends invitation to join his game, i become stuck on the Joining game prompt…I have waited up to 10-15 mins without the game giving an error of any kind. There is also no way to cancel it, the only option is to close the game. That is my issue.
