Hello!
I recently reached the endgame and was underwhelmed at the repetitiveness of the game!
I’ve compiled some pretty nifty features that I believe would make the game a lot more exciting to play for everyone!
—Raised Difficulty—
It should be a mode that you can select through the main menu! (Multiplayer could stay at the same difficulty or dedicated “Hardcore” servers could be made.)
What would make “Hardcore” mode into actual “Hardcore” gameplay?
No compass or blips on the screen!(Blips on the map should be okay.)
This would make it a bit harder to navigate throughout the map making you think harder about where your next move will be.
No crosshair!
Or a wider spread/harsher recoil!
More agile and deadly machines!
It’ll require for the player to think faster about killing their enemy. I tanked 2 rocket shots from a Runner once. I don’t know how that’s possible! I’ve also ran straight on to a Runner that missed all of his shots at me.
Higher detection radius!(Or smarter/violent AI.)
I’ve had dogs and hunters run past me before and it’s easy kills that shouldn’t have been possible to begin with.
Raised machine spawns and lowered loot spawns!
Now that Rivals are a thing, I had fun farming some but I lacked the machine spawns to raise levels or spawn more rivals at all! The airstrip at the farmlands was desolate even when I lured in 5 Seekers to attract machines! Lowered loot spawns will have players carefully use their supplies! This will bring back the “Stealth” aspect to the game because right now we’re all running and gunning without any repercussions.
I feel like the game disconnected from the “stealth” aspect to the game lately with the new updates. Some players might like the direction the game is going but some would like to keep the suspense of every battle they come across! Adding a “Hardcore” mode would keep both sides of the playerbase happy and maybe players who left from being bored will come back to try out the new mode!
—Misc. Features—
These are just some suggestions that I believe will be fun to experience while ingame!
Disabling the entire HUD!(Of course, toggleable in the menu.)
Not knowing your HP or ammo will force the player to properly prepare before every single battle. Not only that but it will make the game a lot more cinematic which will benefit the pretty graphics and scenery of the game. There should not be any drawbacks from implementing this.
Harvesters Running Attack or Summoning Skill!
Harvesters pose 0 threat to anyone. Just kill the Runners and you won. If the Harvester detects that you’re behind it then it should be able to call in for back-up like a Seeker does! A big loud noise coming from inside the Harvester! The module that creates the noise can only be stopped once the Harvester is destroyed. Also a running attack towards the player will make thing scarier when battling a Harvester.
Shockwave attack for FNIX Tanks!
FNIX tanks are the easiest tanks to fight because they lack the shockwave attack that the other tanks have.
Destructible environment!
At least just trees. Tanks and Harvesters can get stuck on them and it’s cheap easy kills. Due to sheer size, it’s underwhelming to see that not even a Tank could stomp trees out of its way. (If anything, this should only apply to Harvesters and Tanks!)
Multiple campaigns!
I got very upset when I found out that you can’t start over without deleting your ENTIRE progress! Sometimes it’s fun to start over with a new character to experience the game again. I see no drawback from implementing this as well. If anything, it will potentially sprout a speedrunning community out of this!
I am sorry if this is long or formatted weird. This is literally my first forum post on literally anything so I’d appreciate tips on making this or future posts cleaner!
Very good suggestions!
Especially that Harvesters should be able to call for backup - that would make lots of sense, since they’re a support role in the first place.
I would really want to see a dart-tag gun on seekers. If you get tagged then for… let’s say 2 minutes every machine in the area will rush to “greet” you
I don’t feel the difficulty is too low. I got rushed by a group of 4 FNIX hunters and 4 FNIX runners twice yesterday, in quick succession. Those hunters are so damn fast, I had no opportunity of setting any trap at all, not with this kind of slow (!) inventory management (putting things into and out of quick bar spots). And if you dodge one blade attack, the next one executed at the same time will hit you. Or those explosive projectiles from the third or fourth hunter standing by and laughing their asses off.
I died a couple of times. The game is not too easy, deaths are just inconsequential. Particularly if you are fighting near a safe house.
Interestingly, I was encountering them somewhere else. And then they came rushing to my safe house, after I respawned there! This or it was a mere accident of a completely unrelated identical group coming from the very same direction.
Btw, you can disable those “blips” from the game settings.
EDIT: It is a well structured, and readable post, @fergiiie!
EDIT: I was fighting a Harvester or two yesterday, and after a short while a new wave of runners appeared, basically out of nowhere, suddenly standing next to me. Maybe the call for support is already a thing? I seem to remember discussions about this earlier about tanks coming in for support. And following the harvester around.
I think it is consequential. They detect you from visibility and noise. If you are sitting in the dark woods, you give no cues. This creates this moment in the jungle where suddenly a gorilla passes you by. You hold your breath in fear and awe, at least if it is a FNIX hunter, and you can already hear its 3 companions.
Finding FNIX Hunters and runners in the open is dangerous so dragging them to some cover is what I usually do. Otherwise, around 5 EXP .50 Cal rounds usually kills them. Running backwards and strafing renders the Hunters and Runners useless for the most part. My idea of increasing the speed of the machines is targeted to fix that!
I’ll disable the blips now that I know I can do that!
From what I’ve seen, Harvesters’ only defense is their Runners and I have not seen Harvesters call for more Runners. I fought 5 Harvesters once and once I got rid of their Runners then no one else came to help them. Harvesters calling for back-up in the same way that Seekers do as well (if anything, more violently) would make battling Harvesters more epic. Imagine if Harvesters could call for help, the tank at the end could’ve killed me.

I was standing in the open fields when stuff like that happens. I can run up behind a Runner and kill it before his eyes turn red. I bet you I could dance in front of the Runner and it would not notice I’m there. The detection rate is too slow and too small for some enemies.
I play without experimental weapons, so the whole situation is a little different for me. I acknowledge, though, that you can get very experienced in this game and it might get a little boring in the end. If changes towards higher difficulty are made, it must be done wisely, so that less experienced players are not affected.
This rarely happens to me. Do you have the perks/skills that reduce your visibility?
@fergiiie a lot of us have been asking for this and when the devs have the time I hope they create a hardcore mode since more of us have asked for it… they did give us a small control of making it harder.
I’d definitely would like to see a Game+ an respec.
But i also want a survival mode. Or at least if they could make a trial version and see how it does with the public to see how it fairs, if not trash it or if so work it in like fallout4 did as a mode.
@fergiiie you ca turn off indicators. I do that and I bring my field of view to 50, I also try my best to kill a ton of seekers to get sound devices to Agro bots.
Try @Zesiir hardcore challenge. Or like it. Kinda role play yourself. Start a new toon with out additional inventories or just don’t upgrade.
Keep getting others interested like you did on the topic so they will implement it in the game for us lol
I tend to play solo on PS4 so it’s a bit rough on the edges. It’s only cause hardly anyone joins my game and I don’t have friends that play this title
I’ll turn off the helpful things. FOV I can’t do otherwise I’ll get a headache lol. I wish that the changes mentioned and many more are added that will impact the game in a way that will make it difficult to survive
@fergiiie I have to raise the fov because it makes it easier for me to establish distance better. But I can see people getting dizzy. I connected with the discord. I usually avoid that cause I’m so newb on chat apps. Is there a way to see who is on PS4? To add them to friends
