Reaper Tips and Advice

I have to agree with @Gysbert, after a number battles and loot, what’s the sense of even engaging them any more? It’s actually a question of time, do I really want to spend it slugging it out with a reaper for something I may already have gotten out of it? I think this is where the devs have to start thinking about offering up some really neat stuff, super rare and difficult to get, perhaps one chance in 20? Then I might reconsider hitting one of these bad boyz on the nose again.

Hey,
I’ve killed the reaper about 5 times and it has self destructed every time! I was just wondering if anyone has a trick to killing it before it self destructs?

Fireworks to the face during the thermal detonation sequence stop it.

A few extra tips and tricks that may help below. Happy hunting :robot: :sweden:

Spent the better part of the past few days play sessions working on getting a reaper to spawn with my buddy.

Got our first one. Took us an hour real time to get it down to where it self-destructed. My buddy had to reboot his game (I was host Xbox) at least 4 times due to game freezing. After thousands of rounds of ammo and multiple adrenaline shots to get back into the fight, we both only got about 400 XP and an escaped combat notification. He got garbage loot. I got the exp 50-cal.

We both load into the Camp/hangar safehouse at the south of the Farmlands region to inventory and craft. I’m in the menus, he runs off to go ruin a tank clomping around outside. I join and no sooner had he killed the tank than another reaper spawns right next to it.

Managed this one much better. That exp 50-cal does some work. Battle ended with another self-destruct. He still got garbage loot. I got the exp Glock 17.

I’m not sure that I have any tips or advice. But I did want to confirm to whomever had posted about spawning a second reaper very quickly that it happened in my game earlier today as well.

It takes 2 in-game hours, from last Reaper (Rival) spawn to spawn another one. Since it took you at least 1 hour to take it down, the rest of the time was consumed by: finding the 1st reaper, after battle looting it, making your way to safehouse, crafting etc, taking down another tank.

While for you, it seemed to be “very quickly”, in reality, at least 2 gameplay hours had passed since the Reaper spawned for the 1st time.

Btw, if you’re having a good time, time goes fast.

I managed to spawn him two times last night and once today - those are my first times ever encountering him.

I quickly disabled the shields and then went on to ”blow up” the knee and shoulder joints/hinges, tick box and the fuel tank/engine in the back with the exp PVG.
I never managed to kill him before he suicied though. I used a combination of explosive/AP/FMJ for my pvg and FMJ for my kvm59, along with HEDP rounds. One of the times he just stood still with the back turned to me so it was an easy picking but still suicied, lol. Almost seemed bugged to me. Any pointers for 2022? Thanks

The way i do it, and have done since it launched, is to target shields first then the little things connected to their shoulders, then the legs. If needed then the batter is also a point to attack with the weapons a bit. Afterwards, targeting the main square box with the PVG, not the KVM, and it should be brung down as long as that fuel cell is up still as it should provide enough damage to knock it down.

Also a tip for its HP, use tech view on your binoculars to confirm when itll begin its self destruction, from 15% and below but most commonly around 7%.

Indominus-J, you’re so active and helpful on this forum and I apreciate it!

I will try to spawn him in again later and try that tactic. I’ll let you know how I managed :+1:

So I managed to spawn him in again, at Dyrboslätten. Took out the shields, hydraulics and the joints. I did as you said after that and just kept hitting him centre on with the exp PVG and down he went. I even got the exp KVM which was the one experimental I did not have already. Feels good! Thank you buddy.

Yeah I killed my first reaper but not before it blew itself up, and then I got lucky since another one spawned because I waited an hour before I fought it.

Does it have to be fireworks or can it be a flare.

Tested it once with both. Didn’t work as expected.
Maybe it was patched out?

i fell into a multiplayer game a few days ago, 3 people fighting a reaper, so I joined the fight, however, after about 15 mins of helping them, shooting the final red bulb on his leg, noticing the reapers shields weren’t going down, the red bulb never destroyed, so I pulled out my binoculars and scanned the reaper 3%, so keep shooting with the other 3 teammates, another 15 mins, now at 2%, AND another 1 hour goes by, still at 2% :face_with_monocle:, somethings not right here, the bulb never broke & the shields never seem to come down, anyways, are reapers known 2 glitch out like this sometimes

Yeah because I tried a flare and it did not work.
