Personally think this is modder territory

how does the ghost busters fit and relate to GZ? or madmax or aliens? so I cant request more costumes? is that what you are trying to tell me?

I’m a big Stargate fan. Though SG1 doesn’t really take place in the 80’s, I dunno. Seems a bit out of place to me.

Gotta think of the licensing issues, too. I don’t even know who holds these.

, what about the t-shirt from sgu

Not really, the kit seemed to be mostly standard issue gear, with the exception of the unit patches.

Well as far as the firearms, we have most of those already, with the exception of the P90 or the M4, but those didn’t come in for a couple of seasons and the regular kit was just regularly issued kit as I recall from the first couple of seasons. As I recall the weapon choices were M9, MP5, M16 and very rarely something like an AT4 would make an appearance, which we already have a pretty accurate recoilless rifle/launcher platform.

I might be wrong here though, it’s been a while since I went through the series from start to finish.

True, the most people have been asking for was the P90 to be honest, very cool gun and peoples favs in a lot of shooters, plus it would already be available at the time of GZ since we moved to 1990 in the live story a while ago.

I understand why the devs haven’t added the P90, as cool as it would be to use it in GZ, it would require a whole new set of animations for the reload and the character stance for both first person and seeing others use it.

The clothing would be the most useful for Arathana’s request. As much as many people moan and groan about requests like this, it really isn’t that far out of the possibility considering that we’ve seen lore of both the Russian and NATO forces attempting to communicate and provide assistance. So why not have some of the clothing of NATO or the Russians from that time period? I don’t see how it would harm the lore.

Oh they did custom animations for a suite of DLC weapons arleady, such as the bow or flamethrower, that won’t be the issue for the P90, I see the bigger issue in the niche: We already have rapid fire SMGs that can reach a clip size of 50 and adding another ammo type would just clutter the loot pool, people were really unhappy about the AT-WAD using custom ammo already.

About NATO or Russian combat armour I think the version that the invading russians use is already in game, we don’t have any NATO stuff because we didn’t see any other than swedish soldiers until now, but I also think if the clothing packs would have sold well then they would have made more instead of weapon packs. Community survey is running right now, so make sure to fill that one out to add your voice to the pool if you haven’t already.

Bad example.
Have you ever seen another player in coop using the bow? There is no animation, even not for aiming up or down.

That’s secondary, 1st person always has prio. 3rd person animations are wonky at best, I mean did you look at leg movement vs. running speed? The float is real

Maybe, but I think especially in coop it does a lot to the immersion if the animations of other players characters are bad.

There are emotes you can use to communicate with others silently, why shouldn’t they make weapons animations that everyone can see?

Probably budget and time restraints as usual in gamedev? Dunno, all guns seem to have roughly the same reload anim in 3rd person, but they did a custom 1st person one for the Vintovka, too, so they seem to have certain criteria as to what is good enough to publish. In the end they are selling the DLC for 4-6 bucks, and making one more set of animations can heavily reduce the return on investment.

While I see the point you are making already, sometimes in development you need to make compromises to benefit the community with some in game systems. An example of this would be Undead Labs adding in a few of the honey badger assault weapons, to make it a weapon that was ready to go as soon as you unlocked it or found it in the general loot pool the devs decided to go with 7.62mm ammo versus adding in a new 300 blackout ammo type. This, of course, annoyed some of the super in depth folks, but the mass majority of the community were ok with that decision. It also helped that UDL came right out and explained the decision, the pros and cons, leaving very little argument to be had. While I understand that the P90 uses specific ammo for that platform, it wouldn’t be much of an issue for the mass majority of this community to just use the 9mm AP/FMJ/Exp ammo with the weapon, if the devs did decide to create that weapon and introduce it.

As far as the survey, I always add in those thoughts, though I’m sure that most people don’t go into as much depth in their responses as I do, lol. I’m sure the poor person who has to go through my survey facepalms when they read mine, as I’m sure they want to get through as many, and as quickly, as humanly possible.

I wouldn’t say that this is a bad example, it actually proves my point, so thank you for pointing it out. Doing animations, especially either new animations for fine tuning animations for various view points takes some work on the developer side. While they are making some money off the purchases of the DLC content, there is always going to be a risk/reward calculation when allocating funds to stuff like this. Sometimes it’s just upper management trying to make sure that the books stay in the black, which means that content gets rushed through. Not saying that management at a dev studio isn’t necessary, it’s not easy to keep a company in the black and it is easy for me (or anyone else, for that matter,) to go keyboard warrior and say that it’s easy. Even if it’s one or two developers who do this, that is still a salary or two that have to be paid, not to mention if it’s the whole team doing their bit to make something. The process to go from idea, to concept on paper, to finished product takes time and thus money. Sometimes it’s worth it, most of the time we, on the customer side, don’t see that lengthy process and throw an entire studio under the bus with a quickly worded harsh review or post. It is one of those things that we all could do better, myself included.

While I agree that I always prefer that things are finished and of good quality, it comes down to that cost/benefit ratio. While it can break immersion, it has to balance out with the mass requests coming in from the fans.

Some projects are easier than others, because you can just use an already existing animation, so quick and easy. Others will require a whole new addition to the code, which means that you have the person doing the concept art, then the coder, then the person making sure that the animation is set up, then sound design, then it has to be tested and bugs fixed, then it goes back to QA to find any other flaws, then it goes to the community who finds new bugs, and it’s a constant back and forth. That isn’t even getting into the issues with other systems that have bugs due to the now inserted code, and future issues from future code added in that causes problems with a now older DLC. The struggle is real.

Let me phrase it in a different way. Here’s an example of a similar cost/benefit ratio. Lets say it’s winter, and you need to go to the store, and the store is a kilometer or 2/3rds of a mile. During the winter, you’ll probably hop in your car and drive there, both for your comfort and making sure that what you buy isn’t damaged from the weather on the trip back. It might be a whole different story if it’s a nice spring day, where the cost/benefit ratio would lead you to walking that same distance. Do you spend the gas, or do you endure the weather? To bring the example, and the situation here, together: Do you pay the team for months of work to get out a product that might bring in as much money as you spent on salaries, or do you cut a corner or two to hopefully insure that the time spent is profitable, which is what you need to stay in business. I know it’s not a prefect 1 to 1 example, but it sounded good in my head. =)
