I’ve noticed that when I dropped my whole supply of 7,62 FMJ for some time (1-2 days) ammo boxes had some insane amounts of that exact ammo type (sometimes more than 150).
Today I did the same with .270 SP, and again - 15-35 rounds in ammo boxes.
I’ve noticed this when playing solo. It tends to drop high amounts of ammo types that I don’t have weapons for in my inventory.
I picked up a gold AG5 and was running it for a while. 5.56mm ammo was notoriously difficult to find outside of the more advanced bunkers. When I found it in the world, it was usually in quantities of less than 10. Then I got myself a gold AG4 out of an FNIX tank I killed, so made the switch, since pretty much every enemy and loot box I came across was dropping stupid amounts of 7.62mm that I didn’t need.
Once I ditched the AG5, I started seeing 5.56 everywhere in generous quantities… Even some hunters were dropping it - something I’d never seen before. And of course, 7.62 drops have become far smaller and more scarce in loot boxes. Hunters with machine guns still seem to drop normal amounts and there’s plenty to be found in bunkers.
Ditto for pistol ammo. I’d been using the PP since the start of the game. Outside of prototype runners, .32 ACP was dropping in very small quantities for me, but I was seeing 9mm pistol ammo everywhere. Got myself a gold Klauke out of an FNIX harvester and made the switch. Suddenly, .32 ACP is everywhere, but 9mm is hard to find.
This doesn’t seem to matter when in bunkers, but out in the world, it’s definitely noticeable.
