I have a few bones to pick with rivals as they exist right now.
Soviet Rivals. I’ve been clear on my position about this. We don’t have enough of them, and that makes summoning Vultures hard. Since they were released, I’ve gathered enough coords to summon 2. 2! And I have a total of 60 now, because I have one Soviet Rival in my game.
Hunters smorgasbord. OMG, why is every damn Rival seemingly a Hunter? 905 of the Rivals in my game are Hunters. I can’t kill them fast enough. They are like cockroaches. Enough is enough. I don’t need a Rival that drops 6 FNIX coords at Rank 4. It’s a waste of my time.
Where are the Lynx and Runner Rivals? I’ve had exactly one Runner Rival, and that was from a sidequest. I really tried not to kill him, either. I miss “Hunter of Meatbags” but he decided to get involved in a base defense mission, and had to be put down. Runner and Lynx Rivals should be the ones dropping 6 coords at Rank 4. Effort = Reward.
Why are there Rivals in zones where I can’t summon a Reaper/Vulture? Yes, this is more of a bitch about not having bases in all the zones, with more than half the game denuded of potential, but since the rivals are so integrated into this process, I’m going to bring it up here. Start rolling out with more bases in the remaining zones. And that means Soviet bases, too. It feels like the game is half-finished.
Until now runners and Lynx just may be personal rivals. Machines may become personal rivals, if they kill you.
Mmh. What’s the problem with rivals in those regions without bases? OK, got it. I agree with the bases. Especially soviet bases would be cool…maybe.
On the other hand… more bases=more issues.
Simple solution: unlink the reaper and vulture from the region where we entered the codes. Open up that they may spawn everywhere again.
Well…maybe, just maybe, the devs have a greater plan for what this system is needed for. But without knowing that, it’s just an annoyance.
There are fewer soviet machines on the map and occupy less map space. The game has slowly been converted to a base building game, so bases are being added slowly. Which is kind of going against the whole resistance movement. With control points expanding, the resistance is losing.
