Rivals showing in wrong region

I finished playing yesterday, after I had destroyed the only 3 rivals on my map in the Forest region, I logged in today and I have a new rival in the Mountain region, I spent a long time trying to locate it on the map, having almost given it up to a bug, I see it in the Marshland region, a region I have never been to, when i looked at its stats, it is definitely linked to the Mountain region, I didn’t spot it close to the border of the Mountain region but a fair distance into the Marshland region, I was under the impression they were linked to specific regions, and only spawned in regions that you were active in.
Anyone else found this in the game? Can they spawn anywhere?

I ve had many rivals to just wander off their “own” region yes, sometimes they come back , other times they stay there, must like the new scenery :sunglasses:

Oh yes, they spawn on their owns in different regions when I’m far away. It’s pretty normal. I’m on Xbox One S, btw.
