Roadmap 2024, better late then never

February 2024:

" OUR PLANS

The internal roadmap for 2024 is still under construction. This is mainly because we have a lot of things that we want to do and not enough time to do it all in this year, so we’re prioritizing and setting goals. Right now, our focus is on bringing you things that you (the players) have been asking for and that we haven’t been able to implement so far."

Is the roadmap done now? Are you ready to share it with the world? Its september after all.

The exact same thing happened last year.

The internal Roadmap is different to the Public one, im pretty sure they never had any plans for a Public 2024 roadmap after what happened with last year.

So, we’re not going to hear anything regarding plans for the future until it actually happens? Please tell me that you’re kidding.

That isn’t as unusual in general.
But we we’re not used to that for some time.

Carni already explained the radio silence for the last weeks.

What has Microsoft to do with that?

The game is from March 2019, we will be lucky if they revamp the Mountain region, finish the bugs introduced from earlier updates, gives us an improved and more extensive Skill system and allow us to play it offline to prevent situations like The Crew game, where you own the game but cant play it because servers are down forever.

I believe that you hit the nail right on the head. It would be nice however, if they would provide mod support so that others could open up those islands, and perhaps a hardcore mode- or at least server options to make gameplay more challenging.

I don’t think that it’ll be that hard to open them up… Or to disable the invisible barrier. It’s just… The devs would want to provide quality over there and that’s something they don’t seem to have enough time or personal for.

What are the islands good for, if nothing is there to be discovered, to experience or to hunt for?
Well, modders could do that, too. Maybe one, or two who love GZ, have the time and the patience and the abilities and the tools. Nevertheless, it would take time… And a stable basement.

There is no server. It’s peer to peer. But I know what you mean. I once made a suggestion for some more multiplayer- or world-options.

Any mechanism which either provided a “hardcore” mode or provided the person whose map other players joined, the ability to set options / limitations in order to make the game more challenging would be welcome. For example, the overwhelming majority of players on servers that I visit never use the vehicles at all because of the in- game ability to fast travel. Not even the portable bench vehicle has changed that. Additionally, there’s no penalty for dying at all. Most of the players that I’ve seen charge right in and take on a machine at point blank range with weapons that range across the entire map. They’ll die a dozen or more times without batting an eyelash just to get this or that special weapon. Then they’ll dupe it and endless ammunition to boot. They’ll use a modded GRG 49 that fires endlessly. You get the idea. I understand that the devs are happy just having players play the game- and f that’s the way some want to play, more power to them- but having the ability to restrict that on a map would be welcome. To be frank however, I have very little confidence that any such adjustments will be made. The impression that I have is that the devs have their hands full just trying to get a grip on the bugs that they create when they introduce fixes to other bugs. When I think of the epic potential that this game had, I just shake my head.

My two cents here …

I think that they are working on something. They just released the heavy weapons and the new boss. As of right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are thinking about a new DLC to open up the island and adding more story. However, I figure that’s something that they’re no doubt being very careful in deciding.

If dev’s vs budget is tight, they may be thinking of GZ2 and completing the story there. Of course worse case scenario is that they may just close it all down. I just hope that we get a notice one way or the other if they’re headed that way, and not a last second, “Oh hey … we’re done!” That would suck!

I’m really hoping that they’re considering the new island and story though. Like its been said before, I would gladly pay for it! I want the dev’s making some money and keeping me involved in this awesome world and story!

Here’s to hoping! :+1:
