What I don’t like with the update is the ammo robots drop. I think they should only drop the same kind they use. But from one i got .270, 7,62 apc and full metal, 9mm pistol and 44 magnum. Total about 500 rounds.
Standard Hunters and Tanks carry 12,7mm guns, but those aren’t high-power sniper rounds. They do drop rockets if they have rocket launchers attached, and .50 sniper ammo if they got those nasty sniper-rifle/railgun attachments.
The only reason Tanks drop different kinds of ammo is to make it more worthwhile to take them down.

I understand that. But I still think the should only carry ammo they can use. It’s like a Leopard tank carrying ammo for other weapons than it uses. Like for grenade launchers or 40mm AA guns.
It could just be that different tanks are calibrated to use differentiated ammunition. (They Don’t actually but you can always pretend. 
TBH, if they did implement this, the only practical reason to even try to kill tanks would be the XP, and even that doesn’t matter once you play enough. As it is, the drops you get don’t even reliably cover the resources it took to get rid of them (unless they have a rocket launcher or railgun, in which case it’s almost always worth it).
I can buy that they where built to support human troops. And that’s the reason they carry all kinds of ammo. But in my opinion it feels weird that I get 300 rounds of 9mm pistol from a single Fnix tank. And hunting rifle ammo. Got like 5 .50 cal from the same tank and maybe 100 7,62mm. Every time half the bullets was 9mm pistol.
There is a fair chance that it also depends on what the RNG is doing and probably a little on what the player was carrying, I almost exclusively get 7.62, .50 and 9mm SMG ammo.
The odd time I will get .44 or hunting rounds.
If I could get a decent stock of 5.56 together I would carry the 5 for a while to see what the bots drop, but those dropped so rarely when I carried the 5 I gave it to a secondary character to hold.
I have an AK5. And today I’ve got almost 200 bullets from a tank. And also 200 9mm pistol. And 100 7,62 and only 1 50 cal.
