So I guess that's it then?

Madchaser nails it, pretty much. I am guessing it wasn’t a priority to remove the borders.

I remember there was a newsletter that stated there was new management??
This change must have happened shortly after the Reaper was introduced to the game. When the resistance base was introduced and the story stopped making any sense. It wasn’t to long after it turned into a base defense/building game and not so much open world, explore/play on the whole map kind of game. It also explains why they didn’t need to develop the rest of the map. Look at what they did with the last update to the map with the new island.

I join co-ops and unless the host is new and still doing missions, hosted maps are extremely limited on where the host wants to play. Control point locations, limited, titan spawned locations, very limited. How many new players will fight a reaper on any island on the map and a large portion of the map? You could reduce the size of the map down to just farmlands, south coast and the forest region and do away with anything else the team that first developed Gen Zero away and you have the game as it is now…Limited to base building and defense. It is not the same game I started playing 5 years ago.

My only hope is to load old files and keep the game offline so it doesn’t get updated and no more co-op.

Base building was one of highly requested features back then, if I’m not mistaken. Along with “hardcore survival” stuff like food, water, etc. Thank god they didn’t follow that route, but base builing to me looks like the famous quote about “faster horses” - they asked in surveys, read forums etc and here we are. Plundra and bikes also were highly requested, though these might’ve been planned to begin with as they still fit into vibe, sort of. Obviusly this is just a speculation, they might’ve had a vision to begin with and feedback from a minority of players may not be important at all

Well if the devs are done so am I. They got my money so that’s whats important right.

With things so messed up its just boring and frustrating. I used to like to lay elaborate traps for fun but now half the items vanish so its not possible. Same old weapons drops even from higher level machines and tyrants. The mutt is unreliable…might as well be a cat now.

One thing about the game I always liked though was the sounds. Whoever did that job did good. I especially like listening to the sounds of tanks at idle and when they get pissed when you shoot them. The satisfying sound of a dead firebird slamming to the ground. But their non-stop ear splitting hiss of the things they dropped not so much. The rambling Lynxes complaining about “speed bumps”…or whatever they’re saying. Even Miss Bark Bucket repeatedly thinking “he’s a good boy”. Or when the dumbass steps in fire.

So I’m gonna finish up some things and maybe come back once in awhile for some mindless machine shredding…but its off to different things for me. I think a new sniper game coming out.

Carry on…
