Sounds of gun firing twice as loud after update using headsets

Platform: PC (Windows10)

Description: Sound (volume) of any gun fired are twice as loud as before when using a headset. Foot steps, ambient sounds, reloading, weapon change, enemies are still okay as before. This started after the newest update.
Reducing the SFX volume may fix the problem, but then the rest of any sounds are too quite. It seems that this is only happening when I’m using headsets. Playing the game using a 5.1 soundsystem seems fine.

I’ve played GZ for a long time and i have always used my 7.1 surround sound headset. I don’t notice at all that the latest update has made some SFX sounds louder than others. It is same as before.
Btw, i have in-game audio sliders all at 100.

The issue could be with your headset since else-ways, the same issue would be with your speakers as well.

I’ve been playing 300+ hours and didn’t encounter any problems before. I have been using my headset ever since and it worked fine.
The only thing updated was the game itself. The rest has been left untouched. I already tried some changes to the volume sliders but the issue remains.

It seems fine with the soundsystem but I haven’t tested it thoroughly.

Same here! That Problem is new and just popped up today. In other Games its all okay, as always, with Headset and also with the speakers. I can reduce the Volume ingame, but its so a tiny change, that is
hardly worth mentioning. I checked all posibillities, its just in Generation Zero and i dont change anything. Just the new Update. I dont know..... I'm just saying how it is. :woman_shrugging: Btw. just with headset this problem exists. With speakers its all normal.

After checking a few different settings with my headset it sounds normal again.

You were right. There actually are some issues with the settings but I still don’t know how it happened and why now.

That’s Windows for you.

For example, last month, out of the blue, Win set my headset left speaker volume down to 23% while right speaker volume remained 100%. I thought that my headset died on me. :fearful: I troubleshooted the issue in-depth and when using my 2.1 external speakers, sound balance was fine. So, i honestly did think that my 3 years old headset had finally died. So, i ordered a new headset. :confounded:
Last ditch effort i tried, was using my headset with another PC and lo’ and behold, my headset worked perfectly fine. :astonished: It took me some further troubleshooting to find out what the issue really was and once i found the correct spot in the depths of Win settings, i set the left speaker volume to 100% and all was fine.
As of why Win decided to skew my headset speaker balance, i have no clue what-so-ever. Also, it was the 1st time it has ever happened to me.
Oh, the new headset that i ordered, i gave it to my mate, while i’m still using my old headset. :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s a nice one.
But good to hear that everything turned out okay at the end.

The thing that still bothers me is that it happened right after the update of Gen0 and only appeared in the game and only when shooting. All other sounds were played like before with the correct volume.
As said before I could resolve it by playingwith the volume sliders andttesting eevery once in a while.:smirk:

Maybe Windows thought it could give me some bleeding ears while playing the game.
