Suggestions for future Companion updates

Just a few commands would be nice. Heal=(follow close to me) and hold fire to start.

Yes, a few more commands (emotes) would be nice.
Thought about a “select target” emote.

You would see a your hand pointing forward and a little “crosshair”. Click(shoot) to trigger Action.

  1. If you select an enemy machine, the companion will attack just this one until death or new commands.
  2. If you select a blank spot in landscape, the companion directly moves there.

I also thought about If the companion should be able to react on the players stance.

  1. Standing: full activity, starts fighting if players is in combat, fĂźll movement freedom
  2. Crouching: silent mode, crouches, starts fighting If player is in combat, stays close to player
  3. Prone: stays and does nothing, lays down.

The only difficulty I see is that crouching and going prone could also be used normally during a combat and that the companion accidently doesn’t do what you want him to do. Maybe we have to keep on thinking about if and what could be done with the players stances.

I definitely agree with JuanEyeJack…

I’m trying to get a Reaper to spawn. While I was looking around and trying to avoid a fight with a Rival Firebird in the area, my companion saw it as an opportunity to prove itself! HAHA! But I quickly ran over and picked it up and then ran like there was no tomorrow to avoid the fight! I’m at threat level 20 in the area and don’t want to slide back! So a command of hold fire would be great. I hadn’t thought of that until after JuanEyeJack mentioned it! :grinning: :+1:

Just as idea for 3 skills that affect the companion.
They would add a total of 9 slots for skill points. At least 3 additional skill points should be added to our current max of 31. This would enable us to improve one of each new skills to maximum, or to split them for covering more modules.

This requires that those skills are all placed next to each other in the tree, that you don’t need to unlock the skill for the behaviour module to become able to unlock the weapons skills. You could even think about an additional skill system just for the companion, because it would stretch the original skill tree to far in width.

Upgrade companion behaviour module

3 levels for this skill that can be unlocked in order.
Effect depends on what module you’re currently using.

Standard runner module

  1. +10% health
  2. +20% health
  3. +30% health

Scavenger module (DLC)

  1. +5kg capacity
  2. +10kg capacity
  3. ability to find and mark nearby world loot (schematics, collectibles, weapons, ressources, items)

Spotter module (DLC)

  1. mark 2 enemies simultaniously
  2. +50% duration of marking
  3. mark 4 enemies simultaniously (like one for each player)

Healer module (DLC)

  1. +50% healing speed
  2. +100% healing range
  3. ability to automatically revive player once per battle

Upgrade companion weapon module

3 levels for this skill that can be unlocked in order.
Effect could depend on what weapon you’re currently using. For first suggestion now it’s all the same effect. (Which is better, if we should get more weapons for/by DLC, because no addition would be needed)

SMG

  1. +10% damage against armor
  2. +10% damage against components
  3. +10% accuracy and fire speed

Shotgun

  1. +10% damage against armor
  2. +10% damage against components
  3. +10% accuracy and fire speed

Rocket launcher

  1. +10% damage against armor
  2. +10% damage against components
  3. +10% accuracy and fire speed

Upgrade companion armor module

3 levels for this skill that can be unlocked in order.
Effect depends on what armor you’re currently using.
Keep in mind that there also are different classes of armor.

FNIX runner armor

  1. +10% bullet resistance
  2. +10% shock resistance
  3. +10% fire resistance

Bullet protection armor (DLC)

  1. +10% bullet resistance
  2. +20% bullet resistance
  3. +30% bullet resistance

Fire protection armor (DLC)

  1. +10% fire resistance
  2. +20% fire resistance
  3. +30% fire resistance

Shock protection armor (DLC)

  1. +10% shock resistance
  2. +20% shock resistance
  3. +30% shock resistance

I had mentioned that earlier too, I think it being reactive to the player would be really great! If I crouch, it crouches and maybe is a little more silent! LOL! But definitely love your idea!!

Ok, I just had an idea but … I think you just perfected it! LOL! That looks perfect!

Too bad I can’t give like 50 likes to an idea! Great Job!!

That could be something that a SMALL skill tree could add to the commands. Where the runner helps in combat, earns skill points and the player then uses them to add to the basic commands.

But not like armor that can be destroyed. It is skills, just like the player can use their skill points to customize their avatar
