The Final Showdown Update (12th dec) - rumours and discussion (wiki)

The first one looks like booze equipment. Cheers! Kampai!

Yep, youā€™re right. They were there a while back, and you could go up to them and press X, but they would instantly disappear after.

Except their doors

Cement/concrete maybe?
Uranium and Tungsten?

The last 2 dont make much sense in terms of extraction process but it could be a way for them to ā€œok guys now you cant complain you dont get enough of theseā€

I would love to build a base around an occupiable house but know that is not going to happen.

We donā€™t knowā€¦
At least base defense gets a revamp.
Maybe base building, too.

The Final Showdown.

The last picture doesnā€™t seem to be from a final fight. Too narrow. Looks like a dialogue moment, where the new boss talks to us.
Maybe with exactly the dialogue we hear in the trailer.

I was presuming the 4th pix is Fnix although I was hoping for a more dramatic thing like in humanoid robot form.

FNIX said that it could not be killed because it copied itself onto many different servers. I wonder what the Devs imagined how this showdown is going to unfold. Destroying a structure surely will not wipe out FNIX. I heard mentioned that maybe a Virus would do the trick, but FNIX also said it had planned for every eventuality, so would it not expect a virus attack?

I will go for the virus thing to circumvent its defenses and aid in destroying or converting it. Although Fnix arrogantly thinks that it already had planned against all possibilities, it had been proven that it was not infallible at all ā€” it got confused at one time that allowed the player to escape sure death.

Confused? Are you referring to the mission ā€œBehind the Curtainā€

I think the scene at the airport is such a key event.
There will probably be those antennas and dishes in different regions and weā€™ll have to search and destroy them all to stop FNIX.

Yup. That one. I think it was there that it encountered a strange dilemma.

FNIX did not seem confused to me, it was aware of the danger and did not wanted the player come to harm because the Soviets gave the player a Bomb instead of an EMP device. The player was going to be sacrificed, so it warned the player, and basically made sure that the player was brought to safety.

That could be a way to go. But we still need to consider how after the showdown, the game still be filled with FNIX machines. I sure am going to make a save copy from just before I do the last mission.

That is exactly the dilemma. The player is the mortal enemy of Fnix so why should it care about his or her safety. This is where I think Svante Von Ulmerā€™s consciousness took over briefly.

That and other red-dotted locations would probably play contributing roles to conquer Fnix.

Anyway, I hope the devs put out at least more video teaser before actual update. This is the most exciting update so far.

As we donā€™t know yet what the red dots are forā€¦ And even if the display is ā€œoursā€ or an enemy one, itā€™s hard to say.
At least the airport has no red dot.

Or it is proof that FNIX is not the pure Evil, but like a child had to learn that not all humans are mortal enemies. FNIX also rescued Tatiana. We can think that it did that to manipulate her, but I like to think that FNIX can differentiate between good and bad. :coffee:
