So I’ve had my eye on this game for a little bit and finally decided to pick it up today. I jumped in, created my character, loaded in, and was met with hideously awful frame rate. It was a complete shock considering my computer (Lenovo Legion Y530) meets the specs or exceeds them in every way.
My Specs
OS: Windows 10
Processor: 8th Gen Intel i7 8750H
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 1050 Ti
I tried adjusting every graphical setting the game has to offer but the frame rate is so poor that I can’t even fight more than one runner at a time. It beyond pisses me off that I spent the money on this game with no possibility of knowing that it would run so poorly despite me meeting the recommended specs. Hell I can run pretty much any other game on mostly high graphical setting so I really should not be having any issues with this game for any reason other than that it is EXTRAORDINARILY poorly optimized. I really hope they can figure this complete bullshit out soon so I didn’t just flush my money down the toilet.
If anyone knows any way to get past these frame rate issue please let me know because I really would like to be able to sit down and enjoy the game but as of now i just can’t with the frame rate issues.
My PC
OS: Windows 10 - x64
Processor: i5 8600k
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 660 2gb
i can run game well on medium , there is something very wrong if you cannot with much better pc than mine.
i have seen on the net disabling anti-alaising can get around some problems with frame drops ( this is not my opinon and i havent seen proof of it yet).
Its fine and also I cant find a way to totally disable anti alaising i can only adjust it, but my issue is with the fact that I should not have to disable it to run a game as simple as Gen Zero with a PC like mine.
it can be done through NV Control Panel >> 3D Settings >> Manage 3D settings , be sure to click Program Settings and choose Generation_Zero_F.exe , before making changes
Your laptop indeed has 2 GPUs. You have the onboard low power Intel UHD Graphics 630 built into the i7 8750H which is used most of the time, and the standalone 1050Ti which is used when you play games.
Typically, it will switch automatically to the standalone when a game starts. The 1050 SHOULD take over, but in some cases, it doesn’t always work. This is a very common issue for people using gaming laptops. I suspect that’s the issue you’re having.
There’s a way you can force a program to use the nVidia GPU, but offhand I don’t know what it is as I don’t have a laptop with a dedicated GPU to help you out. But the option is somewhere in your NVidia control panel. Look around and you’ll find it. I’m betting that’s what your problem is.
As for minimum specs, I play with a friend who uses my ancient old computer he got years ago. It’s a 1st gen i7 920 with 18 GB RAM and a GTX 750Ti. He has to play with medium settings, but has no issues getting 60 fps with that old machine. He even hosts our coop games and we’ve never had a performance issue.
good answer , i think this was brought up on forums previously , well done. we need the way to switch the gpu output as you said , it should be a option in the nvidia control panel as you said. nice work.
Aready tried launching it manually with the nVidia card. I thought about it after that comment and decided to try but it made no difference still running exactly the same although my Vantage panel says that the GTX is not being used even though I launched it specifically selected to use the GTX.
It occurred to me that the PC I’m on right now (work workstation) has a Quadro in it with the same nVidia control panel.
You go to 3D settings, go to the Programs, and click the Add button. Then browse to the Generation_Zero_F.exe as @jakel said. That should switch GZ to using your 1050.
Well actually I don’t know exactly how but it seems my 1050Ti finally woke up because I just got the game to launch and its using it now even though I didn’t change anything,
