Thoroughly disappointed with game

Xbox player here, not that it makes a difference, as what we have here is literally a shell of a game. There is such little content, spread out on such a massive, repetitive map with the exact same houses all over it… in Canada this game was $47, and boy o boy do I regret buying it now… I remember I actually defended this game in YT comments when I first got it cause it actually seemed very promising. And now I’m like nearing completion of the Western section of the map as soon as you cross over from the beginning section, and am so bored outta my mind! This game needs so much more stuff in it, and any future ‘dlc’ or additions to the game better be free, cause I will not spend another cent on this game for any additional areas to the map, cause it will just be the exact same thing, same houses everywhere, same machines, same everything. There’s no replay value to this game, and features that have yet to be added, needed to be in the game from the start! I’d like to see some human AI’s that set up outposts at certain areas that you can raid stealthy. Or towns people are hiding out in and shops you can buy upgrades and attachments at. I know we’re supposed to be the only one left, and on paper it might sound good, but it makes for an incredibly boring game. We need cutscenes to missions, and items locked behind mission completion that you can’t get from looting. The bugs and glitches in this game are beginning to be gamebreaking, and this game needed another 6 months to a year of development… it should still have a ‘early access’ tag on it, cause really it’s nothing more than a early access game, and performs like one too… really hope the devs can get it together, but for now I’m going to try for a refund through Xbox support. If it doesn’t work then whatever, guess I’ll play it again in a year and see if they’ve even done anything with it. And if I do get a refund, then I’ll re purchase it once it’s actually worth $47. Also, the devs aren’t updating this game at nearly a fast enough rate to keep anyone interested in such a broken game. Storage boxes should’ve been the first thing added to the game, along with the crafting and resource stations. If they’re not in the next update there’s gunna be a lot of disappointed players. Just another example of just how rushed this game was, and now they’ll spend the next few months playing catch up with these additions, and patches/hot fixes from more bugs being created after these additions and updates.

TLDR; “This game is not what I want it to be and I’m getting a refund, bye.”

I have had pretty much the opposite experience with this game. I was disappointed and angry when I first purchased it and while I still have issues and bugs keeping me from fully enjoying it i’m glad i decided to keep playing.
Some of the features people are asking for I do not feel are necessarily required, like crafting or the hunger system. I can see the added benefit of them though. I dont personally think it need other humans to fight against. I understand your frustration though. This game was not the finished product I thought I was buying. I dont know the full reason it was rushed out in the state it was in but I agree an early release tag would have made a lot of people less upset about it. I think it is getting better though and I hope it keeps going that way for other people too.

How do you not get bored of running through the exact same houses looting the same stuff, and having to remove the bullets from your gun and stack them on top of the 2 bullets you just picked up, then put them back in your gun just to free up that inventory slot? And then the next box has another couple rounds and you do it again lol. At this point I literally spend more time stacking bullets to clear inventory slots than actually enjoying the game. Or having to go into your inventory mid fight to equip something or switch bullets. The game was fun, yes, and the machines are really cool! But after you’ve seen them all, all it feels like you’re doing is running through the exact same town over and over finding loot you don’t need and the same clothing items 100x. It’s very plain, and basic, especially if you look at the trailer for the game it looks like it’s all action all the time.

It’s true you are correct , the update next week may take the same old routine you described and will add surprises in house’s and a fuller game , along with bug and improvement’s , after feed back from us all that you have described will hopefully appease us the player’s that do want this game to succeed , all feedback is feedback , cheer’s above player’s ,:+1:

Trust me man I definitely want this game to succeed, I think it’s great fun for the initial 10 hrs or so. The machines are cool, and the open world looks amazing. I think Apex engine is one of the best open world engines out there. It’s just the fact that the game is in the state it’s in and it’s supposed to be a ‘finished product’ is what bugs me. It needs to be in early access and should’ve been beta tested more than it was. It’s been out 3 months now and still nothing added like a storage locker, crafting etc. I want to give feedback in a constructive criticism manner, so that maybe it can succeed. It’s just at the current rate that the game is being worked on, I don’t see it keeping players interested for long… maybe 6 months at most in its current state. And for it to succeed they need players critiquing the game, as well as buying it and playing it, but if you go on YT like 75% if reviews are negative reviews which ultimately push people away from buying it. I bought 2 copies when I purchased it like 2 weeks ago, cause I was all for the game and helping the devs, but now this past week I’ve been completely turned off from it, and when I do play it I feel like I’m not doing anything special or different than the last time I played. I actually feel like I am doing the exact same thing I’ve been doing since the beginning of the game…

Funny thing is that I enjoy what are sometimes large gaps between fights and I have tried to come up with reliable methods of killing the big ones without going the flare, EMP and cannister routine.

I do get a bit fed up with travelling to a safe house and once again being surrounded by 6+ Hunters and a couple of tanks plus however many runners.

As for the inventory if you have the extra 2 rows enabled and don’t carry a mad number of weapons then you carry a full stack of pistol ammo and only pick up 7.62 and whatever ones you actually need.

I do wish the weapon would cycle through all an ammo type without them being in a row and to switch to any remaining ammo for that weapon when it is exhausted.

Just switch from FMJ to AP of we are all out of FMJ in that situation you wouldn’t be fussy.

Liking the humor , last night was probably our best post’s :racehorse:  shame they disappeared , , We did go off Topic though i knew that , so oh well all good in the end eh pal :+1: cheer’s

@cta102 I like to keep at least 4-6 free inventory slots available, but in order to do that, I keep the birdshot in my pump in my inventory, my buckshot in my semi auto shotty that’s equipped, I do have some slugs but only 16 of them so they take up a space. Then I keep my 5.56 in my A5 in my inventory as well as .270 etc. Basically I keep all the ammo in my guns in my inventory as well as obviously in my equipped weapons, but every time I pick up ammo, it takes up a slot so then I have to go in, remove the ammo from whichever gun it is in, so now there’s 2 slots with the same ammo type, drag it over the other one and drop it so it combines into 1, then put it all back in my gun. And when your looting lots it gets very tedious and annoying, sometimes I try to leave the ammo out of the guns so it automatically stacks into the one pile and then put it in when it’s maxed out, but then of course I start getting the other ammo type that is equipped in my weapon…

If I have that many free slots, when I have cleared an area and I’m ready to loot, I unload my equipped weapons’ ammo. That makes their ammo take a slot, but when you loot that type, it will stack automatically. Same for med kits. If you need another slot, move something that you already have a full stack of (hairpins, flares, etc.), and don’t need any more, to the quick slot. Then when I am about to head out again, I just load my weapons and med kits so they are ready to go. Easy peasy.

Everybody cries that the game isn’t ready yet. Duh. I’ve played tons of games when first released and they ALL had bugs, needed patches/upgrades. I knew this game would be no different. But the Devs here are in constant communication with the players, getting feedback, and making changes/improvements. It takes time. I like being on the leading edge and helping to shape a game to make it successful. I don’t find it boring at all. If I get tired of doing missions, I go exploring, or bot hunting, or practice setting traps, playing around to see how the game mechanics work.

If you wanted a game that was “finished”, you should have bought one that has been out for a year, or waited until this one is that old. You obviously read the forums and saw negative reviews, so why spend your money now? I appreciate that you are offering helpful criticism, but the title of this post makes it sound like you are just bashing it.

Anyway, good luck with your refund, and I hope you find the perfect finished bug-free game that you enjoy.

Have to admit that I gave up on the 5.56 as the ammo got so scared when out in the forests (my 2nd character is holding it along with the high quality shotgun and magnum)

I ended up going with the AK, MP5, and .270 hunting rifle (with a good 9mm pistol) the AK had a barrel extension as it supposed to do some extra damage.

I’m undecided about the 50 cal but maybe if it’s rebalanced I will carry it again and the same for the recoilless rifle.

I found it worthwhile ditching unused weapons to a 2nd character meant I could carry a lot of 7.62 and 9mm SMG ammo (about 900 rounds of each) about 100 hunting rifle rounds and 120 9mm pistol (AP preferred)

In the forests I may switch to the shotgun as the hunters were dropping a lot of slugs.

I don’t think you can drop stuff for a second character on console cause you have to back out of the game and when you load back in it’s basically like closing the game and going back so it all goes away.

Yes, there are bugs in most every game that is released, but not to the extent that this one has… the only other ones I can think of are PUBG and DayZ though I never played that one. Then again they had ‘Early Access’ across the front of the cover so people knew they were going to most likely experience several bugs, but even then, bluehole was dropping weekly updates in the first few months till it improved.

I want this game to succeed, it’s a nice change and different concept from all these other games. Except I’ve now realized like I stated before, that the entire map has already been designed, with very little variation to house designs, mission props etc. that in order to make a drastic change so people don’t feel like they’re looting the same town over and over again, would need to be completely redesigned. Maybe you guys will do that, but I’m not betting on it, as it would take a serious amount of time.

People need to keep complaining when being sold unfinished games without warning. I don’t think that expecting a game to be finished when released is unreasonable. a few unexpected bugs and glitches is one thing but the amount in this game was too high and shows it was not ready. It may not of been priced as high as some other games but they took all of the money before giving me the whole game.Marking it as early access would have shown from the start that they knew it was incomplete and was still working on it.I know that there are so many different possible configurations of PCs that its not possible to test the game on all of them but the consoles releases should have gone smoother. while I don’t know who is to blame for it being rushed out in the state it was, the developers are doing a great job of trying to fix it.

it has to be frustrating for them working on this game, if they spend all their time working on fixes people complain that there is not enough new content, If they add new content (photo mode) people complain that they are not fixing the bugs. trying to find the right balance can’t be easy. bugs are priority but new content should also be worked on so hopefully they can work together. would suck if after fixing things the new content just breaks it again.

I have played many games that seemed unfinished or I otherwise didn’t like. some have cost me much more than this one did and they did not anger me as much as this one did. that’s not a complaint, i mean that as a compliment. as much as i hated the problems i was having at first, i really wanted to be able to enjoy it. still having some issues but gotten used to some of the workarounds.

also while like i said, unhappy people need to keep voicing their opinions, so should those of you who were satisfied with it on release. the developers need to know what they did wrong but I’m sure getting some positive feedback helps too.

You certainly can have a second, third or fourth character that can pick up your overstock items in a console as I play on an Xbox.

I was carrying high quality items as I didn’t want to lose them and the game was becoming unplayable.

So just go to a safe house, drop an item, back to the main menu and switch characters, the other character will spawn in the same safe house and will be able to pick up the items that were dropped.

Needless to say I tested with a trivial item or two.

After that the game became much more playable

Hmmm, oh well. I guess I’ll try it out if I re buy the game again in a year or so… depends if it’s any different by then.
