Thoughts on the June update

So, with the new update out, I finally started playing again after about a month hiatus. I have to say, as of right now from what I’ve seen playing for about 2.5 hours, the game has finally gotten to the point that I can recommend it to people without feeling bad about it. To the devs: Utmarkt arbete!

More specific thoughts, in no particular order:

  • The bikes were a great addition, even if the physics does get a bit weird when you run into things. This makes it a lot less punishing to die in the middle of nowhere, because it takes far less time to get back to where you were. It does feel odd that you can’t just pick up random bikes, and it would be nice to be able to toggle the icon showing you where you left your bike, but all together, I think this was a great start on this feature.
  • Something seems to be up with the mission listing in the regular HUD. Previously, it would fade out after a while, now it just sticks around. I don’t know if this was intentional or not (I didn’t read through the patch notes as thoroughly as I usually do this time, so I may have missed something about this), but it would be nice to have the option to use the previous behavior.
  • The fact that ammo still doesn’t auto-merge into stuff you’ve already got equipped to weapons is a still an annoyance, but not a serious one.

Thoughts from anyone else on the new update?
