No. Also, devs doesn’t even acknowledge the existence of gnome ticks.
Though, my best guess is that gnome ticks do get removed at some point, to finalize them and there could be future, official event about them, reintroducing them for the event period (e.g like Semla was).
If anyone has found one not listed here, please let me know!
Usually in or near a house with a gnome there’ll be a Semla or two lying around. Sometimes you can find the Semla in a house next to the one with a Gnome.
They definitely can be spawned in single player on invite only, I’ve seen them myself. But if you value your sanity I really don’t recommend going solo if you’re specifically looking to spawn them.
As tricky as it is in co-op, trust me… it’s far far easier to intentionally spawn them in multiplayer that it is on your own.
I’ve been Gnome hunting for what feels like forever!! If anyone is on PS4 doing this on a regular basis please let me know!! It’s getting frustrating I can’t get them to spaw anywhere!
It’s been a very tough few days working on a formula, and the reality of what we are doing has hit us all in game not too long ago. We’ve all come a lot further in getting them to generate, my game earlier had over 5 Gnomes in 3 houses, all dropping consistent loot.
Problem is, now it’s not more of an effort than when I originally started - and only leaving the Black & Yellow and the illusive Silver & Gold is it worth it? I’ve looked at the drop rates against their claimed % and it’s a tough gig for me at 5, let alone those at 6 praying for that missing mask.
The Gnome tick themselves get stuck in houses, doorways, under floorboards, implode on themselves, and has cause what I call the Gnome punch that can best be seen here ->
It’s very frustrating, and understand why many don’t bother because the setup for this is ridiculous.
So, in summary - IF you are going to go for the Gnome Masks, it is very much a grind and you will need 4, minimum 3 with everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.
I do, and understand that the necessary steps are against the grain for most.
It’s one of the many chapters in my Generation Zero timeline that I wanted to put into perspective. The developers don’t want to go into specifics, and as you put previously don’t even acknowledge it.
In summary, for anyone who comes across this post. The effort far outweighs the outcome.
Tbh. I’ve tried to warn anyone who’s asked me; “Cool mask. How did you get it?” and I’m sure they think I’m making up / overstating just how much of a pain it is to do in its obviously unfinished state.
I’m only too happy to share any of my tips with people when they ask, but it all comes with a caveat & health / sanity warning. I think if someone was to ask; “Was it worth it?” I’d probably have to say no.
You end up spending ~100 hours with the game running at it’s utter worst, touring the same 30-40 copy-pasted buildings, with some serious performance hitches around Haga and Kyrkholden.
I daren’t even begin to total the hours I spent trying to grab them all. All the fruitless hours never spawning a gnome, or getting one only for it to crash etc.
Since completing my set and helping friends finishing theirs my interest in playing GZ has massively decreased.
I’d suggest not touring Östervik as much as maybe we did, and focus on creating big battles elsewhere; Hagaboda, Farela, Bockhyttan etc. then periodically heading back and doing a loop before heading away again.
We had a session over the weekend and found that we accidentally spawned them! One of our usual group joined (who is still missing a few) and he headed to Östervik after we’d just been leveling up regions. Lo and behold he found one in Tornbeget just outside Kapstenvilla. The session had been up for while but we’d not so much as set a foot in Östervik IIRC
It may be that focusing on Östervik is a double edged sword. Yes it might be quicker sometimes, but it sure as hell won’t feel like it. I’d let rip elsewhere and then check in regularly. Try that for a change and see if it helps.
We were on playing late one night as well and found two gnome ticks in a bullet riddled house in Östervik. We got gnome masks from them that were pretty cool. Went back the next day and just regular ticks were there. Hope this will activate more then once.
You already know the answer as you were in the session with me @liggisten. And for everbody else, yepp they are still around somewhere!
I found that illusive machine on PS4 aswell so now I have all 7 on both systems.
Funny how similar but yet so different that in PS4 it always starts in the same house and for PC it can start in any house(much harder to find him, thats my opinion) Like your pose there!
I still have some deploy-able gnome ticks, but they don’t work now:
They just screech and blow up or disappear.
No running around spouting humorous sounds. Anyone else notice this?
