robots have a health bar kinda it’s not a bar but if I shoot.one in the foot with my moller pp long enough it will explode like a bomb. instead of this robots wouldn’t die unt every vital component was destroyed. a tank would need to lose its gas tank eye sensors and the electrical motor.things on it’s leg to be able to die
Just to clarify, are you wanting every part of the bot to have to be destroyed for it to die, or are you saying only critical hits should count toward its maximum health?
the machines would have no maximum health or any percentage that goes down until it explodes. they would have vital components that they wont die unless those are destroyed. for the tanks it would be gas tank optics and the electrical motor things on the legs. after these are destroyed you would just shoot other components until it dies if it hasnt. shooting something like a tanks leg would do 0 damage to it
If hitting a tanks leg gives 0 damage that’s the same as saying that part is indestructible. If they could build that good legs then they should be able to do the same with gas tanks. If you look at a human tank like a Leopard or T-72 you can destroy all parts of it. Some are harder than others. So I think that all parts of the Robots should be vulnerable to some degree.
Edit: if you take a close look at the bots legs there are lots of hydraulic stuf that should take damage.
what i mean by the legs is the chunks of solid metal, not the components in the knee and upper leg. if you shoot the metal parts long enough the robot will explode like a bomb, doesnt really make sense. maybe shooting these parts could make the machine slower as it gets damaged
I get it, you want the actually vital parts of the machine to play a part in its demise, so they actually have to be hit. I like it.
it should optionable
smaller enemies still take damage if you shoot at armor some spot doesnt even deal damage like as shooting at a tank leg. you still deal damage but its almost any damage, but who the hell will shoot more than 10000 bullets of hollow point on a leg?
(you must use hollow point because you could hit components if using full metal or armor piercing)
Some of my favorite targets of tanks are the legs.
The part just over the knee is a very good target to quickly destroy a tank… Or at least to deal much damage.
In my eyes that makes sense. A tank with destroyed legs or their needed components should get destroyed earlier than if you just target its head.
An effect on its movement would be a great plus. Imagine you could stop him making his running or stomping attacks by destroying the legs components.
Machines have two types of health: actual health and component health. Destroying a component will take out a chunk of a machines’ actual health; but it’s possible to slowly whittle a machine down by just shooting any old part; not optimal or efficient, but possible.
It’s not the best system, but it works fine. And a more complex system would be more things to track, meaning lower performance.
I like that, It would also add more varied combat, Disorientation, staggering shooting at friendly bots would also at some more chaos !
Do you mean for example, that they should fire around randomly if the weapons are intact, but the vision modules got destroyed?
That would be great, but maybe an overpowered solution to get rid of them.
I was just thinking it might add something a little more unpredictable, I would love to see any new additions to machine behaviour within reason
