I have realized that pistols are useless in the game, right? I have an experimental Klaucke but I hardly use it. what do you think?
well… against higher level machines and rivals i can agree that it’s underpowered but those usually have very high armor too
it’s still better than the Grg M/49
Moved to #general-discussion.
The Experimental Klaucke’s EMP can disable any Machine type. It’s a good backup weapon in that sense.
Wholeheartedly disagree. You can’t blow up a group of Runners with the Klaucke.
well runners are weak as s*** tho
What is the EMP of the Experimental Klaucke?
EMP = ElectoMagnetic Pulse. Is’s the same effect when you blow up car battery, throw a battery pack or use EMP rounds with m/49. EMP disables machines for a short while.
but is there EMP ammo ?? where do you get ??
.44 Mag is my sidearm of choice, even over the Exp Klauke. Nothing better than one shotting a pesky runner with a scoped revolver!
There is no EMP ammo for the pistol. The six start klauke has a chance to trigger an EMP blast, no matter which ammo you use.
The only EMP ammo in the game is for the granatgevär, I’ve senn it drop from high-tier hunters.
I recently started to use Exp Klaucke in almost every situation, because it can quickly:
- disable everything incl. Apoc class tanks and harvies
- destroy runners, hunters and ticks
So it’s not bad after all.
The first gun I used on the game was the Peashooter AKA. Möller. Then I found hunting rifle. After that, I have never used any pistols on the game except testing few rounds to a live enemy and dumping them to the plundra immediately.
For me, they are a novelty, just like melee weapons and binoculars. Just taking inventory space and adding weight.
I agree with you for the most part though binoculars are pretty useful with the thermal view for scouting for enemies very easily.
One of reasons I use pistols is to dump ammo in controlled fights with fat bots, like playing peek-a-boo with tank for saving “better” ammo.
Walther(Moller) has best in-game hip fire accuracy and stability, with skills golden pistol won’t even need aiming for accurate rapid fire in agile close-quarter skirmish. Plus it’s ammo is lightweight (5g per shot).
Glock (Klaucke) a bit more powerful and has deeper magazines, but rapid hip fire sends bullets all over place on par with hip-fire Barrett (Pvg 90). Only reason to pick it’s heavy (in dmg/weight scale) ammo is exp. version of pistol.
Redhawk (Magnus) is good offensive mid-range sidearm if your aim and distance sence are good. Can be used to one-shot drones and dogs or quickly defang huntes - on solo guerilla 3-4 HP rounds tear off army hunter’s MG and 4-5 - FNIX hunter’s shotgun, 2 HP shot blast off tick pod. Minuses are serious bullet drop, very heavy ammo - 16g per shot and weak against “non-blue-spark” zones, even FMJ ammo.
Remedies for hunting rifles are high velocity and minimal bullet drop almost instant hit on <100m range in the cross, noticeable at 350~400m range. Oh and high dmg/weight ratio if you consistently hit blue sparks. Both rifles of high quality can take down army hunter within two mags - Mauser needs 2 shots in tick pod, 3 in mg, rest in “tits”.
For me 5.56 guns are useless. I use FNC (AG5) as “mid-range smg with scope” - not enough damage to finish off half of targets within one mag, 9mm smg’s with FMJ bullets seems to do better job at that. Even with better control it still loose to G3 (AG4) at disarming hunters in mid-range. Minimi (Kvm 89) no better either, due to spitting bullets all over the place which is making hard to shoot weak spots or thin sides of weapons. Only good thing about this ammo - you can get biggest piles of it per pick up if you actively accumulate it (like carrying FNC or Minimi around for this sole purpose).
Carl Gustav M49 (Grg M/49) is used for it’s “tactical ammo” - EMP round and smoke-screen agains tanks, but latter is getting tad more tedious, since tanks began approaching smoke screen after recent update. HEDP rouds was and still main purposes are setting off traps and tearing up dog/hunter packs. Or the “guilty pleasure” of using Rocket Launcher knowing how badly it suxx comparing to other choices. Exp. version even worse due to ammo waste potential.
Shotguns in general has worst damage to weight ratio for ammo (for example slug has comparable damage .270 8g bullet, but being AP), rather low damage per minute due to constant reloading and inconsistent damage due to pellet spread. I utilize shotguns as sidearms or when I need to accumulate other ammo. Exp.shotgun for it’s great utility is outright bugged.
