UPDATE
This issue seems to have resolved itself for me.
I continued to restart and replace the savegame files a few more times, and eventually tried a smaller file (5,000KB ish) one which worked.
That successful start then seemed to allow any savegame i put in the right place to be successful and I’ve updated the one i use the most.
I’ll leave this comment in place in case its useful for anyone else, but it could just be an issue I experienced.
Original comment:
Before running the skyfire update this morning I made copies of my current savegame and savegame.bac (12,586KB in size). [its a habit :]
When i ran the game it used what i think was a save file, probably from the steam cloud which was 1,046KB in size from (I think ) 2021.
I haven’t had “keep game saves in steam cloud” ticked for years, and it is still unticked.
Deleting/replacing the new file with a current “savegame” file has no effect (still uses old steam cloud save when started).
Detaching from internet, and repeating the above doesn’t help either (same file used … from where? who knows).
Anyone else with similar issues?
