Various Co-op bugs including one with event fireworks

Here’s a list of some new and some longtime Co-op bugs that my friend and I experience nearly every session:

Our system is Xbox One X

  1. The fireworks for the annviersary event do NOT seem to spawn when playing co-op. We played for four hours without getting a single firework box between us. I then logged out, logged back in solo and the very first box I open has an anniversary firework in it. This has to be a bug and merits fixing and extending the event until it’s fixed! The fireworks are so rare that it’s not like any but the most dedicated scroungers will end up with very many after only week, which is a shame. Especially after losing a night trying to find them in co-op.

  2. A brand new bug is that rivals are sometimes randomly dying miles away from us. We can hear a faint boom and then get the notice that the rival was destroyed. Very annoying bug when it happens to a lv. 4 rival you were trying to get to to farm for good weapons. Finding their body to loot after losing the map icon is nearly impossible (if even possible at all - for all I know these suicidal rivals float up to heaven like the hunters are still doing from time to time).

  3. Sometimes when viewing each other’s character, we can see each other stuck in the equip/unequip weapon animation cycling over and over, with accompanying sound, even though from our own 1st person perspective this isn’t happening. This animation looks like the character is constantly raising their gun up in the air and stowing it behind them, but the gun never changes. This bug has existed for 6+ months. More of an immersion breaking annoyance than anything, but in the past this has also seemed to correlate with some of the other nastier bugs like not being able to loot downed enemies (which has been fixed for now). Often happens when you warp to a new location and are waiting for the other character to arrive - they appear but get stuck in that animation until the player takes control (at least this usually resolves the bug when it happens in these cases). Sometimes it also leads to the offending character getting “locked” in a frozen arm position with no weapon equipped from the other player’s perspective (then machine gun bullets start magically firing out of the air in front of the character if you fire say an assault rifle). Again, from the 1st person perspective, everything looks fine.

  4. Another longstanding bug (7+ months) is that when I throw a firework as the host, the client player sees and hears that same firework exploding over and over in that same location, looping. It isn’t actually having an effect on enemies any more of course. Probably has its origins in the same underlying bug as #3, but these two don’t seem to correspond. This one is much more common (happens nearly every single time I use a flare), but can be dealt with by just leaving the area.
