Why do I have no missions when i join someone else?

So when I continue my game and its set so anyone else could join, why is it when i join someone else, my missions that i had before either don’t exist and i have to restart or joining someone else restarts it in a completely different save? I don’t understand why it restarts even when i have 1 character and all my points of interests saves but none of my missions do??

If they are far ahead of you (or even by a single mission) and they are the host, you can’t join in on the missions ahead of your current active mission… but you can get the static loot weapons, and host your own. It’s one thing I Like added to the multiplayer… to see what mission host is on!
