Xbox/PC crossplay to PC/PC crossplay = Corrupted Save


My wife and I have been playing this great game for while and have just about cleared the missions on the archipelago and about to go the the farmland part. We’re really enjoying it!

However, recently we encountered the Xbox / PC version mismatch issue which meant we couldn’t play until the @devs came up with a fix. We realised that we had a laptop that could run the game pretty well and so installed GZ on there so we could temporarily get round the above bug.

I play on PC (stats at bottom of this post) and my wife on the Xbox One S. We played for about half an our on the now PC to PC co-op and all was working really well until the game crashed to desktop for me. The event viewer report was:

During the game my wife also dropped out a lot (with a lost connection message) or straight to desktop and I would need to re-invite her.

We decided to try again this morning and these issues continued. We then thought about checking the Xbox/PC combo as we thought the version numbers had changed to see if that might have been resolved now and my wife received a message on the Xbox that her save was corrupted. All her progress has now been lost :frowning:

I’ve checked the forums and scoured the internet and it looks like there should be a savegame.bac in the Documents folder on PC but I can’t find any reference to that file anywhere???

Any help or guidance with how to restore my wife’s save would be amazing!!!

I’ve been running the game that we play co-op on, is there any chance my save holds her info?

This is such a promising game and we are loving playing together, just the now constant crashing makes it difficult.

This is very likely linked to the version mismatch on Gamepass PC/MS Store PC to Xbox because paet of the next update snook through into the base assault hotfix on the PC gamepass/MS Store PC version of the game.

Yea, sounds like it sadly - I just hope there is a way to restore my wife’s save (I’m starting to think not) as we’ve spent quite a few hours working our way round the islands, clearing and levelling up etc. She’s gonna be pretty downhearted if she’s got to start again. We’re only at level 9 & 8 respectively but its all the skill points and loot etc that always takes the time.

Unfortunately, i dont believe there is a way to restore the save. With this issue, it completely deletes it entirely from both sides so youll both beed to stick to one side until the devs have the fix for the version mismatch out.
