Personally I think you guys should add drivable cars even in the tutorial It mentions something about driving and please don’t make it a car make it a off road truck with 4x4 and have it where players can control when to activate it and I say truck because of all the rough terrain and I say add a vehicle since riding a bike is useless
Oh and add more robots something different something that will throw everyone off
Well, few issues here:
Noise: cars and other motorized vehicles make a constant sound, making them an excellent target for machines.
YES, a gun sounds much louder, but it is HARD to point the location where it’s fired from due to the sound being short, plus echo and reverb, which a constant sound does not have as much.
Otherwise: vehicles are bombs.
Well that says it all, I guess.
So imagine, you step into a truck, fire the thing up, as you look up, a billion machines come rolling in, shooting…
While it only takes ONE good shot to set the car off into a massive fireball.
On the FUN side, imagine your stuck in a house with a few friends.
Outside, this really gorgeous truck with big foot wheels 'n’all, and you get a poor schmuck crazy enough to make a diversion with that damn nice shiny truck…
Always good for a laugh.
I know I’ve been making alot of posts lately and that’s because I’m just really hyped for March and Ive been having some ideas lately. So let’s just jump in.
So here’s my layout for cars that I’ll explain later on.
A car that can be activated has a low spawn chance and will maybe look a little bit different that normal. This is to make it more notable to the player. ( btw I don’t want drivable cars to look massively different to normal ones cause it ruins the immersion and makes it look like a crappy battle royale).
To start a car you need 4 fuel canisters, car battery EMP, and any type of com array ( optional). This sounds very easy ik but there isn’t really anything else in the game rn that would fit in its place so bare with.
there is a max of 1 car per player. 4 cars per max session.
Your car will not spawn at your last safe house and you will have to drive the car to said safe house and keep it there. If not your car will keep its position and you’ll have to find it.
The car will have a fuel meter that will go down and the car will last 30 minutes. (I think that’s a fair balance).
Alot of people say that one shot from any explosive and its gone and I do agree. So you will be able to outrun big things and will be pretty fast. 60mph which is just about 20 higher than bikes.
Your fuel depletes faster if you speed all the time.
Your car will be destroyed if hit directly with about 2 rockets from any rocket using me.
Upon your car being destroyed you’ll have to find another one.
HP indicator.
Scrap is used to repair cars after damage.
× Armour ×
I have to agree this seems a little bit wack but after seeing something like the apocalypse truck then we could just hope.
Scrap can be picked up from machines rarely (since scrap just doesn’t spawn anywhere). Only prototypes drop scrap since they’re less protected and loose. 2 - 4 scrap per Proto tank. 1 - 3 on a harvester. 0 - 1 on a hunter and a rare chance of finding even 1 on a runner.
It takes 2 scrap to slap on one of the sides of the car (seems unrealistic to jump slap it on but any other drop seems tedious).
The more Armour the more resistance. 2 sides done and youll get more resistance from rockets.
(Your car can be destroyed by bullets and gun fire too but it’ll take some time). Let’s say 3 panser shots to the armoured front and it’s gone.
Fully armoured car can do better at running through runners taking lighter damage.
They’ll be a damage indicator as well as a Armour HP indicator.
× COM array ×
Turn your car onto a driving machine attractor and that’s basically self explanatory.
× Vehicles in general ×
I feel more than 3 vehicles is super far fetched.
I say 3 because they probably won’t leave it at 2.
Vehicles in general probably won’t follow something like this apart from spawn and drop values.
× End ×
I feel like I’ve covered alot and If you wanna point out any flaws or things I’ve missed then please point them out thanks. I really want this idea to have no backlash or anything wrong with it/farfetched. So please if you find anything wrong don’t be afraid to point it out.
Motorized vehicles could be great fun. I believe, however, that the devs have stated that cars ain’t gonna happen. I guess the argument is, that the engine noise would attract all machines in range. But the car could be electric! Like a golf cart or an utility vehicle. They are as silent as a bicycle. And then you could collect car batteries to power them.
With current movement in game, the range of alerting is large whilst on bike too. It’d make for cars to be the largest target out there in game sense and real-life sense. There are many situations that you can see around you, where a car has crashed and been abandoned, so the only viable option would have to be an armored car. Collecting armor would be a large task in itself and the car would need to be bulky in form, which would make it slow. In that sense, there either needs to be a viable all-terrain vehicle that is fast enough to make sense in use or large, slow armored vehicle that would be used for ramming or transportation of important items.
That puts us in the field of - Either the armored truck that was found as an Easter egg, becomes a big deal and there’s a mission tied to it, or we get a motorbike in the game. In which case, I think the motorbike would make most sense. It’s easy to hide from machine, it still makes you an easy fleshy target, but wouldn’t need to be abandoned, when a blockade is presented on the road. A motorbike could be taken off-road and basically let you cut through forests, as long as your riding skills are on par.
To create something that is an actual car, could have the potential to transport 4 players. It’s great risk, with great reward, but also a lot of work. I wouldn’t hold my breath to it, but a motorbike… I def see that one as a possibility
I like that people really want something like motorbikes in the game but I personally think motorbikes are boring. Your exposed and there’s nothing particularly cool about it. I think that a Car, buggy, golf cart, van or something similar would be really cool. I think the ‘it would attract machines’ is more of a you problem than a game problem. I just love the idea of you and a buddie booking it at 50 down the fields.
I long for it.
A motorcycle would be fast and swift and could easily outrun machines which would compensate for the engine noise attracting them. An off-roader could be loads of fun. I haven’t seen any motorbikes in the game though. They ought to be there.
With Ian and your reply, this is why I say it puts in two fields. A regular car won’t do. A buggy is the most flexible term for this, but for a Swede to own one is… strange… a golf cart would be toonish, but a larger armored car would be something more viable. It brings opportunity for co-op elements, but then it’d be slower and it’s reason for travel would be either to ram something, or possibly extract something valuable. For travel, it’d be limited to roads and be tanky to take hits, but also be able to return fire - Co-op.
In a perfect world, the bike or buggy would be the ultimate solution, because off-roading to save time and cut through, without having to leave your vehicle for some blockade… also a viable option.
In the perfect world, both options would be implemented and then a co-op crew or solo has something to look for. I imagine many great uses for both, but as regular cars, it’d make less sense to try and drive a mobile coffin
Me and my friends aren’t playing GZ very often anymore. after leveling up, and exploring every corner of the island, (Including the extension) it has become somewhat tedious to continually fight the same way, with the same enemies.
Though GZ is in my opinion still a great game, it lacks so many things that it has the potential for. Cars being a HUGE example. Just look at this image.
Notice the CAR? The tire marks and open trunk/boot at first glance indicate that this band of heavily armed friends drove here to be on time for this stand off.
I now know this isn’t the reality, but it was images like this that sold me on the game. Notice almost every image on the front page of this website has a car in it? Some equally suggest that a few of these are operational, and being (or have been) put to good use.
My conclusion is that cars are not out of place in this story, in my opinion they would greatly enhance its enjoyment factor.
As for the points You mentioned, “DystopianGZ,” this is exactly how I would want cars to be implemented to the game.
I’ve heard and I agree however you could make it a higher level thing. Can only be done at like lvl 25. So that at that point you’ve already seen the whole place. There would be no more need for stopping to admire the landscape because you’ve already seen it.
I was thinking that the bikes aren’t really good offroad and now we have crafting, so my idea is that now we can open car bonnets we could have the ability to take the engine and make a version with the crafting using steel to make pipes and then when we spawn in a bike we can equip it with an electric engine which would be silent and we could use fuel cells to refill the engine. There could also be suspension we could add to make quick escapes offroad?
Just a thought, might be OTT but this could be a feature added?
Bicycles are cool, but wouldn’t an electric dirt bike be even cooler?
What i’m suggesting is a craftable electric dirt bike. It’d be quiet, faster than a bicycle, have decent range, and be able to tackle all sorts of terrain. required materials for crafting could be: Steel, Rubber, Plastic, Car Battery EMP, a small fuel cell, and a new “lamps” item that you can only salvage from a tank. You could have different variants (regular, enthusiast, and military), and maybe have different perks for them, like the regular one is just fast, while the enthusiast trades a little bit of speed, for a 360-degree single-use EMP burst, and maybe the military one is just as fast as the regular one, but also has a forward-mounted (fires where you steer) SMG, for defense.
You’d need to refuel it when it runs out (just replace the fuel cell), and it would use whatever mechanism the machines use to convert fuel to electricity.
I think this would be a pretty cool addition to the game, and really help with mobility. Plus, they’d look so much more badass than bicycles.
I would love dirt bikes, but not electric ones. A big aspect of the game is the late 1980s theme and electric dirt bikes would be extremely experimental on the level of the robots. So maybe if the robots have them!
I was anticipating a reply like this. However, in my mind, i imagined someone would say the idea of an electric dirt bike would be crazy…to which i would reply: “more crazy than fully autonomous military robots on a murderous rampage?”
We have literal military mecha roaming the countryside…I don’t think the idea of an electric dirtbike ruins immersion, lol
I feel like a regular dirtbike would be too noisy, and draw far too much attention.
Yeah, but i also think an electric bike would be far cooler, and be more in line with the crazy tech we see in this game.
Think about it… right now, post-update, if one machine sees you, you have like 20 on you in a matter of minutes. Imagine if you were riding a noisy dirtbike… You’d be overrun in seconds…either that, or just barely ahead of a pack of machines that makes you look like the grand martial of a friggin Swedish Army Mechanized Infantry Parade
