Lol … mush mush. That would be super funny, especially in a group of 4.
A skateboard, @Terrorrobot? Yes, yes, yes! That is so eighties, and for me it would be so much better than a bike. Okay, it would just make sense on the roads, but still. I like biking IRL, but not so much in GZ.
Any form of vehicles that are motorized, either electric or gasoline would be problematic. Electric motors could easily be disabled by weapons fire and gas power, well, we already know. Now the only thing that would change this is if certain vehicles became usable, such as the S-Tanks that are around the isle. Clearly they are more beefy and may be able to take out the Tanks that roam around easier, but at a cost of mobility.
We need to also take into account of the pros and cons of certain vehicles, EX: a car is faster and can get you places, but it a good size target and also it goes BOOM; Stridsvagn 103 Vehicles, or S-tanks, are massive, but boast allot of armor plating and sports a nice 105mm cannon, but with armor and firepower, limits movement in numerous areas; Bicycles are not as fast, exposed, and slower then using a car, however sound emissions are lower than an engine and is capable of traveling, although slowly, various tight areas that would make typical movement with motorized vehicles impossible.
Any body remember the > Puch , pedal and go 80’s under 50cc we rode them in fields in the UK as kids ,
Strv s, a rare vehicle (it is a tank)
In a game like this, even the S-tank, Stridsvagn 103 would be a deathtrap.
It’s armor, while sloped, is not very thick at all.
It would stop the Runners (shot)guns, all guns on the Hunters and the Tanks .50cal ammo, but the FNIX Runner RPG projectiles would certainly damage it.
The Tank and Harvester mortars and missiles would also take it out really quick - as illustrated by the many abandoned and destroyed tanks in this game.
Besides that; the game is not really built for any form of quick transport, even the bikes are cumbersome and awkward to use at best.
A skateboard however, would be an interesting idea though.
The bike is a quick and easy way to travel, but it only has 1 seat. Whereas a 4 seater car for all players in the co op to travel at high speeds, all together and be able to Shoot out of an open window. My idea is that you have to press square (PS4) X (Xbox one) and the interactive button for pc (sorry I haven’t played it on pc yet) to open the window so you can shoot out. Then hold the same button to get out the car. To make things more interesting you actually have to repair the car (like the car betters and keys) to be able to drive it.
I’m sorry for this being so long

A driveable military jeep style vehicle would be better since a SAAB and a Volvo would be almost useless off road. I can only see a car load of survivors running into a pack of Hunters ending very badly for the car though. Rapid movement by car might also compress the map a bit too much. I felt the cars in DayZ did that. Hiking across a map on foot makes the game world seem bigger, even if its not.
Yeah, they would have to open up a lot more of the map for them to add motorized vehicles. I like the idea, but nothing faster than one of those military trucks you see parked all over the place or if they give the bots heat seekers, nothing slower than a dirt bike.
Perhaps once they start expanding the game world it could work with cars or motorbikes. Right now it feels like it’s a tad too easy to run into enemy patrols if you’d be on a faster vehicle. I find myself avoiding bicycles sometimes because of how easy they attract attention in areas like Northern Coast, Forest Region and Mountain Region.
The bicycle tutorial use the term ”vehicle” and ”bell / horn”.
Wouldn’t be the first time the tutorial section has accidentally leaked info on future content.
Little Dune Buggy type vehicle
Quad bike seems a good candidate - used by farmers everywhere with good xcountry performance, small, can use a similar logic to a bike (rather than getting inside like a car), carries 2 people. Could be workshopped/spawned in the same way as a bike but might need resource gathering before you can build one?
Did they have quad bikes in the 80’s? I know three wheelers were a thing here in the south until they started making 4 wheelers. I’m sure whatever they add will be from that time period.
Either way, motorised vehicles make a LOT of noise compared to the bike. And the machines hear you on that quite nicely. I’m not a big fan of machines noticing me before i blast them to smitherines if i can help it.
We didn’t, as far as I know. Especially not in the countryside or out on the islands. But we did have utility mopeds, ones with a flatbed at the front that were very popular (and still are). You could even ride on the flatbed. They weren’t very fast, but still quicker than a bicycle.
I’m not against drivable vehicles, but I don’t like how the in game character is a foot taller than the regular vehicles (for everyday usage) found in towns or destroy on the roads.
I forgot the time frame again, okay quad bikes a no-no. I can think of a dune buggy or beach buggy type car, basically a tuned up VW chassis with roll bars. They probably weren’t common in 80s Sweden either?
Maybe a Lambretta scooter? Takes a passenger.
Hey what about the good 'ol Vespa scooter? We need to be able to take a passenger!
These might fit the world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespa
I would prefer to pile the crew of 4 into a car where we can shoot out the window!
But having a passenger that can shoot off the back of a scooter would be fun too!
I do realize that the devs do not plan on making vehicles a thing in this game but I do believe that some mechanized transport should be able to be made? Maybe a DLC pack like “Dying Light” that would introduce some new way to travel? Maybe being able to hack and ride a runner possibly?
