You know what would be another cool vehicle? … Peddled Go kart! Does anybody remember those?
like 4 wheeled bikes? sounds fun, more stable than bikes maybe.
We could also have mopeds. (Really dinky Italian bikes) Believe it or not this term “moped” actually originates from Sweden!
No one seems to have noticed that everyone in or around a car is dead. All the roads are blocked with burning convoys and the machines are attracted to sound. This is why they are all dead.
When a machine opens fire on a car, you might as well be sitting in a cardboard box. Yes, I know that in films bullets “spang” off number plates, but you can push a screwdriver through a numberplate with your bare hands. In a car the only thing that will stop a bullet is the engine block. And if it were a .50 cal, even that wouldn’t do it.
A car would be a deathtrap in that situation.
So, let’s sum up. If you drove a car and met a machine you’d be dead. If you didn’t meet a machine, you’d have a pleasant drive in the countryside and the game would be over in half an hour. I’m struggling to see an upside…
Well, first off… FUN.
Second, cars could be used as mules that can basically expand your inventory. So you and your friends can go out on looting runs and get way more stuff than you could carry on your own.
Or the other way around, you want to go into battle and (once the game receives a storage solution) you’ll be able to put guns, ammo and health items in the car and go out to kick ass.
As I’ve said before, I don’t think GZ should be like Far Cry 5 and let players take any car. Instead, vehicles should be unlocked, so that they’re introduced at a pace where they’re not intrusive on pacing.
This may be a little advance for the time relation of the game but it could be retro still with the style input like the machines. The cycles could be crafted with parts into a Electric Cycle as an upgrade?
I don’t really mind what the vehicle is that they add, just something that is actually faster offroad than running would be nice.
Honestly we do cary more in inventory than we could manage in real life. We have enough for guerilla war. And as mentioned above. Cars are death traps. Almost all bodies are outside vehicles. The only vehicle besides bikes I like to have is a skateboard. I dont’t want a new Tony hawk game. Just kick around for transport. Much cooler than a bike. And about bikes. I would like to have the plastic one from the 80s. An icon of the 80s in my opinion.
It’s true that in real life bullets would slice through regular cars like butter, but in real life if I was shot once by a gun, or stabbed by a huge blade I’d be dead and no amount of adrenaline would revive me.
Like I said, I imagine the cars, when shot would lose increasing amounts of health and parts/functionality. Only when shot enough times, or in the exact right spot would it explode.
Unlocking different types of vehicles could be a good way to keep it simple. There could be armored military vehicles that would require a certain key or skill to drive.
But wouldn’t it be cool to be able to grab any of the regular cars just sitting around the map? Take it where you need it or use it as a stash then move on. Maybe a jump starting skill?
The people we see dead around the vehicles probably didn’t know what hit them.
Just driving down the peaceful countryside road, then BOOM! Giant machine plants a rocket in the passenger seat. We would have the advantage of knowing what we’re dealing with. It would open up lots of strategy options for those who want to use vehicles, and for those who don’t, just ignore it.
Personally I usually ignore bikes. I find them just a slightly faster, more detectable way to run with no other benefits. But sometimes they do get me between destinations faster.
And cars would definitely be just fun. For some people.
If they add cars i would like to see something similar to My Summer Car type of building. As we know the robots would damage some parts quite easily and they would have to be changed.
Or we could just stick to the moped idea.
I love the idea of mechs and armored vehicles later in the game. But would tanks and heavily armed vehicles make it too easy?
It would definitely be super fun to drive around in a tank and be able to shoot down a giant walker with just a couple rounds. And of course I’m 100% for the addition of working cars, but I’m unsure about heavier military weaponry.
That would be cool, but I think it’d be very complex to implement. My Summer Car to my knowledge still only has one car that players actually can tinker with.
Well, the whole idea is that the vehicles should be unlocked. So if the military vehicles were to be implemented in the vanilla game, they’d be unlocked so late that they wouldn’t really upset game balance, just be a fun thing to play around with post-ending.
OR they’d be part of a DLC that’s specifically centered around armored combat.
I’d love to see a crafting system that allows you to modify a hunter into a exo frame like in aliens movie and Also if you could pick up non damaged weapons off hunters and smaller to attach on either left or right hand for dual fire mode.
It would add more to replay ability. Especially if you have to replace gas cans off down bots and other various parts to keep your exo
I think it might be better if any major features such as heavily armed vehicles were incorporated, and you didn’t have to buy them separately. But a DLC could make more sense.
Though the average person’s ability to operate a highly complex war machine may be overestimated.
Or, they could have all the disadvantages a real tank does IRL. One or two shots from the mortars most Military and FNIX tanks have in game would easily put most real-world tanks out of commission, at least until repairs could be made. Real tanks are kind of notorious for not having good armor on top, it just doesn’t make sense for classical usage, and even ‘modern’ MBT’s like the M1 Abrams or the Leopard 2 still have thinner armor on top than the sides. The stuff on the Stridsvagn 103’s in game is like tissue-paper when compared to what many people think of as armor, even on the sides (they relied very heavily on the slope of the armor, a front mounted grill for catching HEAT rounds, and just generally not being spotted).
What if you hacked a team of runners and put harnesses on them so they could pull a car like reindeer!
