On Xbox my ammo does not automatically go into the gun from my inventory. Say I’m using my hunting rifle with the .243 soft point rounds, and I have say 20 in the gun. If I pick up more, they take up a slot in my inventory, then I have to remove them from the gun, which makes another stack (20 from the gun) I have to press X on one stack, drag it to the other stack and press X again so it puts it all in 1 stack, then put that whole stack into my gun which in turn frees up the inventory space that was created from picking up more of the same bullets. It does this for EVERY SINGLE GUN! And can get tedious and annoying quickly.
Also, I’d like to suggest a melee system for the game, where we can pick up pipes or crow bars etc. and use them to hit the robots to take them out like the spider ones or the walkers even.
Yes this is an annoyance with the inventory management. Ammo should stack into the gun automatically and I believe this has been voiced here before (and the problem is present on PC as well).
I’m constantly unloading my gun to get two slots occupied with the same ammo type, then stack them into one slot, and after that reload the gun with a larger ammo size and thus spare a slot that I can use for something else. This “inventory dance” is quite unnecessary really…
The stacking works for me on XBox One, but it’s annoying.
Just make sure you have your ammo types next to each other in the inventory.
The inventory system is really annoying. It’s like this on all platforms. Things should automatically stack. If you have an ammo type in the gun and you pick up more, it should get added to the gun until that stack is full, not general inventory. That would solve that problem.
Also, the same is true for items in your hot bar. If you have incomplete stacks of items like grenades or medpacks in your hotbar and pick up more, it goes to your inventory instead of in the existing stack. It should just complete any incomplete stacks instead.
I do hope this is high on their list of fixes, as the inventory system can be infuriating at times. It’s no fun having to play Inventory Tetris.
And the Dual Purpose explosive rounds sometimes won’t stack at all despite being the same ammo type
Yea, I think everything should stack to free inventory space. The red explosive tanks and big items alike should stack in 3’s before starting a new stack, small throwables in 5’s. Car batteries also 3’s and the field radios in 3’s.
I think being able to carry that many explosives would make the game too easy. I’m in agreement with not being able to stack the propane and compressed air cylinders. Those things are very powerful when used right. Being able to carry multiple stacks, even in stacks of 3 would be OP as hell.
Well then maybe just 2… either way, I can’t seem to get them down and then shoot them when I get far enough away cause I’ll either be dead by then or the robots will have chased me up the road and not even be near them anymore. I play solo mostly, if I play multiplayer it’s only with my one buddy. So it’s not like I can work with someone else to set a trap and lure them to it and have him shoot it.
I play solo and coop. When I play solo, I use the canisters as traps along with a radio / boom box quite a lot. Works great for dogs and hunters.
When fighting tanks and harvesters, I tend to pick my fights carefully and try to only take them on when I have cover. I sneak close enough to throw a medium EMP. That disables the big guys long enough for me to drop a canister (or two if it’s an FNIX tank), back peddle and blow the tank up. I often get caught in the splash damage, but typically don’t die from it. If I do, an adrenaline shot later I’m looting the big dead robot.
Yea, I took on one of those 2 legged massive robots I think they’re called a tank, it took 8 rockets, 5 grenades and most my emp’s, then quite a bit of my 7.62 armour piercing rounds. So I don’t think I’ll be taking them on again by myself, takes too much of my supplies.
The only real effective way to kill tanks solo is by blowing them up. Rockets have very limited effect on them due to their heavy armour. If you shoot at it to kill it, you’ll find it takes up WAY too much ammo. The cost to reward ratio is not good. Yeah, you get the XP, but still, the amount of supplies you burn up for the small loot drop isn’t really worth it.
As I said, pick and choose your fights carefully. Before you take on a tank, make sure you first take care of any smaller machines escorting it. Try to stay in cover and sneak up close. Throw a medium EMP to temporarily disable it, drop a canister or large fuel cell under its feet (or 2 canisters for the FNIX variant), run backwards and shoot the canister. That will take care of it with minimal ammo required. Alternatively, if it’s near a car or large propane storage tanks, you can shoot those and blow them up, which will take the tank down. The same strategy can be used for taking down the 4-legged harvesters.
But yeah, taking on a tank head on with guns blazing is an expensive proposition. Yes, you CAN kill it that way and many do, but the amount of time and ammo required outweighs the rewards.
@xG3T5MOK3Dx - cta102 posted a video showing how to take down a tank at this link. He’s using an EMP round from the launcher to do it, but it works the same with with a medium EMP, only the tank will recover faster from a medium EMP than he will from an EMP rocket, so you have to be quicker.
Bear in mind that you can only throw small and medium EMP charges. You can’t throw large. They need to be dropped and shot, which kind of makes them less useful outside of setting traps. Small EMP will have minimal effect on large machines. Medium will give you just enough time to plant a bomb under it and get away. Ideally, the EMP rounds for the launcher are the most effective.
ammo not properly stacking is a known issue on any platform
Yea that’s what I’m hearing, but apparently my one friend who I play with doesn’t have this problem…? He says his ammo goes into the gun and doesn’t take up an extra slot. The other day after a hot fix update he also had 90 rockets for his rpg… none of which were actually taking up space in his inventory. I wish my game did that.
