You should Aesyle’s replies more carefully.
the game is a intellectual copyright , you agree to the terms of sale when you buy it. you may not break those rules or you are in violation of the agreement. its very simple. Avalanche has every right to VAC ban any player that does so.
If you are not cheating you are not trying. While I wouldn’t hack my game, I can care less if someone else does. As long as they paid for it, let them do what they want.
I was on a game where the host was tossing gernades at players, so I left. No drama, no reports & no worries
only hack this game

So, lol, I know this subject is beating on a dead horse, but anyway. Today was my first day in ages when I joined a mp game, or rather, mp games, as I joined several. I knew beforehand that I would stumble upon a cheater herer or there, but what I wasnt’t expecting was to see two thirds of the players I joined be maxed out on all the skill trees.
Since this is a subject that the devs never have responded to in all this time, I’d say go for it if you feel the need! You won’t suffer a VAC ban or anything of the sort.
I’m truly saddened to see this is still an ogoing issue, and to be frank - shame on you devs for not putting a single effort to remedy this.
Not to mention, the age old infinite ammo and rapid fire mode, with the grg acting as a minigun. So yeah, public games is for those that do not care.
I mean they are not doing anyone harm but themselves. It is a pve game. Not pvp. And If they play with friends or singleplayer they can do whatever they want. Modding allows freedom. There is no point to banning them. The only issue is if someone joins anothers game then mods.
EDIT: as others have said the problem I pointed out, and you as well can be fixed by a block system. They have the idea of just being to block a player. Preventing them from joining you, and you from joining them.
It breaks the game. It breaks everything the game stands for imho, simple as that. When you’re about to take on the newly introduced Reaper for the first time, and someone with an infinite ammo rapid fire rocket launcher blasts it to bits in seconds, thats where the fun ends for me, and I yet again am reminded of why I took a long break from this game,
For sure, modding/cheating in your own, orivate game - I couldn’t care less. Its when those cheats “spill over” to the MP part of the game I truly hate this game.
I agree. If someone joins you, and starts modding that is an issue. However you said you joined them. Which means you can just leave. Go to the discord and find someone to play with. Or ask for a better system for mp, so you do not join them again. I neveer said it was okay to just destroy someone elses reaper in seconds. However if someone wants to do it in their game, I believe that is fine. As they are effecting no one, but themselves.
While in a sense I agree on this, I still don’t. It’s hard these days to join a random game, and play fair. IF you mod (and that I have done myself), it should be restricted to your own private game. Problem is, I can’t choose to avoid cheaters when I select to join a game on the MP menu , I just gets tossed in there.
While setting up a server for likeminded players is an option, that shouldn’t be the requirement for playing online without cheaters.
Ok then how are we supposed to separate regular players from modders? We have to have some system in place, such as a better system for mp. Which others have asked for, for other reasons than modders. Or just ban all modders.
EDIT: Accordiing to Xezr. The EULA does not allow cheats from a 3rd party software. So I guess you are right. According to the game makers. They do not allow cheaters. But I still believe that not all modders should not just be banned.
Actually, EULA doesn’t allow any kind of game file modification, mod or not.
I assumed as much. I was just pointing out what Xezr had said. But it is the EULA, and everybody has agreed. Nothing I can do about it.
Agreed, sir.
We need basically a block player system, so that player is blocked from your game forever, or until unblocked.
This I think would be the simplest way…
Cheating mods are ruining the multiplayer experience for those that don’t cheat.
I’d like to see an option where if you are hosting a game, you have the option to allow cheating or not allow cheating.
I’d also like to see an option where the host can state their game objectives so they don’t have to keep repeating themselves every time a new player joins. This would also give the player a heads-up as to whether that multiplayer game is of interest to them before joining.
And give the player multiple multiplayer game joining options instead of the continual same game so they can opt out of hosts they don’t want to play with.
Maybe even a whitelist/blacklist for multiplay so hosts can have better control of their playing experience.
This goes along more with my disallow guests to attack rivals unless you target them feature request.
Rulesets like you are asking about need to be different options beyond adventure and skirmish. The game needs to be the limiter, not players and their inability to choose wisely and respectfully.

It’s been asked about for a long time now, I don’t think they’ll ever fix this.
I wholeheartedly agree with previous posts!
A cheater should not be able to join a legit game, and a legit player should not be able to join a cheaters game.
Cheaters can play with themselves if they like, but they should NOT be allowed to screw over other peoples games.
Adding a savefile verification bit could be the way to solve this; a small software function that scans if there are any mods among the game files and if found; marks the savefile as “cheater” to block every attempt to join public games that are hosted by non-cheaters.
So even if you disable the mods, you will still be marked as cheater unless you start on a fresh savefile.
After all, by installing mods youre actually breaking the EULA, so if mods breaks your savefile, then good riddance.
