Dark Skies Update Discussion Thread

Not that its a bug or something too much important.
But until today I thought the Firebird was a Fnix machine and not Soviet.
Would make more sense in a story context if it was a Fnix machine, i Know its asking too much but it would be good to see a Fnix airborne machine as a response and adaptation from Fnix to the Soviet new toy. :open_mouth:
Either that or a spider look alike anti-aircraft and anti-personel machine  :spider:

Motorbikes are great! lots of fun! Consider adding a place for a rider that can shoot their weapons.

Been having fun knocking them down. Not to hard. Over the cities they are easy to find. But over the forest… that is another thing. They just blend in to good on the ground or they are disappearing before I get to them. Looting is ok but not super… so far that is. Maybe all the good stuff is on the downed ones in the forest.

I limit myself to 3 weapons - AG-4, .50, rocker launcher. There’s nothing I can’t do or take down with those 3.

Any AP ammo I get that isn’t 7.62 or .50 I recycle immediately for the copper. That way I can keep myself supplied with copper for the ammo types I do need.

I also seem to consistently have a ridiculous drop rate of 7.62 AP. Despite that being my main ammo type, I collect far more than I can use. Instead of trading, I recycle the surplus, also for the copper.

I see all kinds of videos where people are getting tons of great loot from the Firebirds. Even today’s stream, @Avalanche_Pontus commented they have great loot, and he was most definitely getting good stuff.

So far, I’ve taken down at least a dozen or more in the last couple of days, and I’ve yet to get anything but trash tier loot out of them. The only good thing I got so far was a moped. I’m better off killing stuff on the ground as that gives me far better loot it would seem.

Happy to hear about your experiences with the update so far! Seems most of you are happy with the update

As far as free updates go, it’s excellent all around. Death From Above was an excellent mission that added a nice bit to the story, but it was so short. It just left us wanting more.

I do hope we get updates / DLC with significantly more missions and story content in the not too distant future. There’s a lot to love about GZ, but for me, the unique story is what I find the best about it. And it deserves to be continued.

Btw, the third weapon at Recon camp can now be taken. It is fixed.

Which one? The one next to Anl 118?

Is there a second Soviet Recon camp? Please tell.
It’s the one with the weapon that we could not pick up. South of Skvadern bunker.

Ah,… Reading…
I thought you mean the circled one.

Didn’t find it. Do you have a hint?

Congratulations to the devs! Awesome job on the Firebird.
There is nothing more satisfying in this game than seeing one fall out of the sky.

The new dirt bikes are amazing, thank you so much for vehicles. However, my only complaint about this update was that after I bought the dirt bikes, they were immediately available in my vehicle station. I would have preferred to find them at set locations in the world.

I also really love the extension to Tatiana’s story.

Having them given to you by NPCs as part of missions or as rewards would have been awesome. Imagine having to gather a bunch of parts salvaged from machines you kill, or scrap like the Calle mission, bring them back to an NPC, and he builds you the resistance bike. That would have been sweet.

I agree, a story or missions for it would have been awesome.
But in that case it wouldn’t just be an “item dlc”.
There would have been much more persons and effort needed to create it and a price of 6.99€ wouldn’t have been possible or reasonable. At least out of devs and publishers point of view.

For me it would have been ok if the bikes would have been random loot or could have been found at fixed places. I agree that providing them instantly isn’t the best way.

But the devs or publishers current point of view is that if you pay for a dlc that you should be able to get it instantly with no more effort. Imagine the complaints of all the players who paid for it but just have bad luck with loot.

In my point of view it’s the wrong descition. I just don’t want more items, I want to have to do something. I want a task. Otherwise it becomes too boring too fast. For weapon dlcs there could be random missions (I once made a suggestion for that) like the assignments. For motorbikes there could have been fixed places somewhere after the place where you get the first motorbike.

I like the experience of the game. But it changes a lot if you start and have dozens of 3c weapons and equipment in the first plundra and dirt bikes from the first church on (while other players have to find weapons of these classes many hours later and even the first motorbike could take some hours to find.

To get the moped, you destroy machines, it was FREE. They added the Firebirds and again FREE with a new set of missions, also FREE. But throw down $$$ and it is just given? Like you bought a burger at a fast food place.

I really like the idea of when buying a DLC, it comes with missions exclusive to the $$$ DLC. Would be a reason players that don’t pay, don’t get the rewards of a paid DLC. Missions to get PAID DLCs is a great incentive to BUY the DLCs. Look at the DLCs for FNIX Rising and Alpine Unrest…Bought them for the new missions and not just for the FNIX or APOC machines.

Cannot agree with the reasoning. The work went into adding the moped (free), then adding the motorbikes, PAID DLC, would have been easy, I would think.

It’s not because of the bikes themselves, but because of story/missions for them.
This binds more personal.

Placing them just somewhere in the world instead should be fine for everyone in my eyes.

There is a soldier opposite of the green tent laying in the grass on a small incline. The weapon (AI-76) is near his head. It highlighted for me on PC. This is an old picture from when the weapon wasn’t there.

Finally found him.
I searched this place so many times, but I never saw this soldier. Even took a few minutes when I found him now. Just found him accidently while crawling to the tent to hide for a firebird roaming around.

Thx a lot.

No, the Tuned Moped is available at the first safehouse you come across once you leave the Archipelago. You just go there and pick it up. Additional colors however are drops from Machines.

I have a couple of observations which no-one else has mentioned so perhaps these are just occurring in my game for some reason.

  1. Have the drop rates been increased? Yesterday I got 7 exp weapons (inc 6 shotguns) and today About 5 Exp AG4. My normal gameplay usually yields about one a week! Too many level 5 weapons to count as well.
  2. Have the spawn rates been increased at some locations as well? For example at the airport the old spawn rate was 4 hours but now it seems to repopulate with at least a couple of tanks almost every time I fast travel and back in.
  3. When a weapon with skin attached is put into plundra and then taken out the skin has to be reapplied. This used to happen with attachments but this was fixed some while ago. (although still not shown as such while in the Plundra.) If a weapon is put into storage with attachments and a skin it only comes out with the attachments. Really annoying.
