Dark Skies Update Discussion Thread

I had this feeling, too. On friday we were able to give our 3rd man a complete set of experimental weapons (except sledgehammer) within about an hour.

I had this feeling, too.

Thanks for that. Glad I’m not the only one.

On a different note, the bikes seem to work fine, not that I will be using them and although the Firebirds are a welcome addition to the game I think they are a little bit overpowered, at least for me at any rate.

Maybe drop rates have increased at some areas, just like some areas have machines spawning in the area more often. But I think it does it randomly. Increase drop rates and increase machine respawning. But I think it also randomly jumps around to different areas/region. Himfjall island had the machines respawning in same area when we would fast travel between a few areas on the island. That was before the firebird update. Now it is around the Farmland region, other times the marshlands and so on.

I’ve been playing for over two years now and never had experimental weapon drops like this before. I’ve had about 20 since Tuesday and about one a week before. An Apoc tank will invariably give one and a couple of 5crown weapons or attachments as well. I also think numbers of ammo are up as well wherever I go. I not had this before so I don’t think it’s a random thing personally.
I’m not complaining, I’ve got experimentals coming out of my ears…

Especially the .50 is spammed like hell by firebirds. 7.62, too.

It’s nice to have as much ammo for my pvg, but it’s really getting too much. Where is the need to search and loot or craft ammo if you get more than you need by just a few enemies?

I remember my first hours when I was happy to get some .243 or .270 for my sniper rifles. Well, there weren’t as many enemies in the archipelago.

But I miss the hiding, managing ammo and looking for ressources a bit. Of course, the more and the harder the enemies are, the more ammo you need and it’s satisfying to get much ammo for destroying them. But I think that the balance is gone currently.

I feel the same here. Over time I have collected and stored so much ammo I have never needed to craft any ammo of any description. I get along quite happy without it.
If the drop rates have been upped I suppose I will just have to store more.
“Back in the old days”, like you, I was relieved if I got half a dozen .32 for my Moller but now we get drops of 300-500 at a time from high level machines.

Or could it be an issue with the skill for getting more loot?

My mate didn’t have skill points there and got way fewer than me.

I mean, it’s just one skill point difference. Should the benefit really be as high? It’s not just the ammo you get. If it’s too much, you at least can recycle it and have ressources for anything else.
For low drops it’s ok (if you get 24 rounds .32 instead of 16 for example).

But if you get 300 instead of 200 .50 it’s really a gamechanger. Very difficult…

My friend and I have recommenced the game using new characters and what we pick up along the way. No going to our respective plundras for “good gear”.

It feels strange to get excited when finding 2x rounds of 9mm SMG ammo or 1x 12g birdshot round.

What’s a bit annoying is that I fled from a firebird “Death from Above” in the command bunker Skvadern, but despite the fact that I’m practically standing in the command center, it keeps finding me and shooting at me, it doesn’t hit me, but I don’t come out of combat mode and unable to travel to get rid of it.

I saw your bug report. Yeah, I figure that’s not supposed to happen, though I think just shooting it down or perhaps going into the menu and back would resolve this issue for now.

The Firebird ought to lose track of you once you’re out of sight though, so it’s good that you made the report.

For me as host on Ps4 the game crashes so often after this update that it’s unplayable. Can play maybe 15min before the game freeze and crash. And always after I die and respawn in a safehouse or when I use the plundra. So back to playing Ghost Recon. That game works as intended.

I very much likes this update, the option to have multiple worlds and replay the missions in a Newgame+ way ^.^
The Bikes too, even though a lack of one with a Sidecar for co-op in the Bike DLC pack.

With the Sputnik like Firebirds, Roaming the skies
It’s very satisfying to shoot down, and i still get surprised by how big and how far away it crashes when shot down… (and how bouncy they can be)

With this “Hunter Killer” I’m anticipating that the Isles to the east of Østertorn is likely only occupied by only Soviet machines, with the only Fnix machines there possible being only Wreaks.
But i do wonder… as some of the landing crafts seems to be intact i wonder if we’d be teaming up with Tatiana and securing a landing craft and going to of the isles ^.~

Although in New worlds I’ve noticed a Trend of Fnix Beacon stations not respawning in any location that had 1 as a Target
and side Missions picked up doesn’t count as it being picked up from a location either

There still is a is a Frame-Drops just north of “Store Dyrebo” Near “Dyreboslætten” (map text)
where my FPS went from solid 60 to single digit FPS
Tenebris Infinite ran into it too, doing a stream (it’s the exact thing i get @ 39:59)

This bug have been around since the Landfall update for me
Originally it were caused by a Harvester trying to move while being stuck in a Tree (walking in place)
But this part of the bug seems to have been fixed as I’ve had some Harvesters stuck in tresses without my FPS dropping below 20 when they walked in place.

Of course it’s possible to escape this shelling, only then are all the destroyed machines gone that you just wanted to loot

Been getting a lot of “empty” machines of late since the update. No loot at all to take once I have destroyed them.

I had that happen a few days ago, it disappeared once i Restarted the game.

For me it happened in the North Coast, shortly after re-destroyed the soviet Beacons in Hagaboda (in a world with the Mission “Death from Above” completed)
Also it were only happening for Soviet Machines that had no loot.

I solve that particular issue on XboxX by deleting local save. Works every time.

While on the subject of the update, was there a time limit on receiving skins from high level machines? I received 3 skins in the first couple of hours but absolutely nothing since. Please don’t say it’s RNG as if they all have the same drop rate the laws of probability dictate otherwise.

The weapon skins are permeant as far as im aware, dont see why they would make them time limited. Just dont forget to be hunting rivals.

It’s RNG, but yes it’s permanent. You can also recieve skins by doing Base Defense missions.

Just defense or assault, too?
