Been watching the stream at work and one thing hits me.
Are there any disadvantages with using these weapons? Why would i care about the normal ones if i have these super duper juiced up versions of it?
I suggest adding some weaknesses to these experimental ones to keep the normal guns relevant. Two things i came up with was:
Overheating: Faster firerates and heated bullets will increase the temperature of the guns to make them inoperable if they dont cool down. You got this in the real world aswell called cook off. The chamber gets so hot after long continous fire that the round detonates just because of the temperature alone. Adding a cool down timer after xx seconds of continous fire will make you pull out your normal guns in the meantime.
Condition: Again faster firerates and heated bullets will heat the barrel up and wear it down prematurely. This will force you to only use these experimental guns when you really need too.
I do hope they have done something that they did not mention in order to maintain weapon relevance & balance while at the same time keeping the games 1989 vibe.
SPP
I don’t think they need disadvantages.
A 5 star weapon does not have disadvantages in comparison to a 4 star version.
If i spend like 1000 bullets to finally get one of these guns I think its totaly fine with only advantages.
5 star weapons does not shoot incendiary bullets or have faster fire rates than 4 star weapons. These are experimental guns, basically prototypes. Prototypes have faults that are not ironed out yet. I feel they should really have a disadvantage to not make the 5 star guns completely useless.
But if it turnes out that the experimental weapons are too strong, the devs could include some of your suggestions.
For example that not ervery shot but every third is an incendiary round.
Of that your weapon overheats and after one full mag of overdrive shooting it automaticly switches back to normal mode untill it is cooled down.
We will have stronger enemies so why nor have the ordnance to go along with that?
And I suppose that the 6* will be much rarer drop than 5* (we will probably have to work to get the Rivals to level up before they start to drop them).
This is cool, the Rivals deal and the weapons. I am concerned though they are putting time into new features before correcting the most significant current issues. I hope they will correct the AI, crashes, and other significant issues.
Anyone know if there’s a particular feat/chance to obtain the EXP 50 cal ? I was able to earn a 6* kpist literally at the start of a new game. This allowed me to bolt straight north with a breeze.
They are nice, but far from beeing to powerful. Also when you have a 2 star gun, you never ever go back and use a 1 star gun, so should the 2 star guns, 3 star guns, 4 star guns, 5 star guns all get some weaknesses now, cause you want to use your 1 star gun again?
I strongly disagree. The exp guns are made for end game players and as a new player you normal dont get your hands on one of those. They are also fun to do. Even with a 5 star gun most if not all robots are easy as cake (if you know how to attack them).
Most of the time I spend ingame with sitting around or desperatly trying to find some tanks on the map. Cause everything else is just boring, even the hunters (but those are the most anyoing robots). Oh and dont waste adrenaline, just die and run back. The only time I use adrenaline is when I play in a group, but in group play you rarely die anyways.
Btw. you dont need exp guns to kill robots ingame, you just need the right tactics and dont stand around, you need to move constantly. Exp. guns are really fun, so dont take away the fun.
Yes, i have so far looted 6 of them. Total of 4 different types of exp weapons i have. 6 out of 10 are exp pvg 90’s.
And weird thing is so far i have looted them like series of 2. 2 Rivals a row dropped this, and then again in another gaming session.
If i get once more this weapon, i start to think its bug.
