Yeah and it would be better to stay that way imo, it changes the feel of the game: you + survivors vs machines. I personally would like it more if mechs added afterwards were the same one enemy and simpler to develop.
Furthermore in the campaign progression while u still search for clues about the 1st machines , all of a sudden russian machines appear and are instantly identified as such! wtf
…It’s always the bad commies!
Like spaghetti code , GZ has gone into spaghetti game development!
And from this thread i guess it’s pointless to report bugs etc.
The fact that firebirds easily can spot you. That I like to imagine is because they are flying and equipped with IR-sensors. So being still does’nt prevent them from seeing me. Just like a helicopter hoovering looking for someone and the crew has state of the art infrared detectors and night vision Googles.
You’re obviously not a child of the 80’s. I am, and I can validate that it’s always those damn commies. We had a saying back then that holds true today, but for a different reason, and is just as American: “Better dead than red.” Back then the Reds were Soviets. Now, they’re still Soviets, but also Republicans.
If you skipped certain missions, or went out of order, or just found things early, then MAYBE yo0u don’t get what these new machines are, but if you did the missions in the order you should have found them in, you would have realized a new player was on the board, and you should have come into understanding what they are properly.
And then there’s the visual storytelling. Sometimes you don’t need to have it spelled out to you what’s going on. You come across two very different types of machines, and they’re fighting one another, you know they’re not allies. You find a small outpost in the north with bits and pieces of the new types of machines strewn about and some non-operational ones lines up for use, with a lot of dead soviet soldiers all around, you get the understanding that maybe the Russians came over and brought some friends and something went horribly wrong. You don’t need to be handheld into “Ok, little Tommy, these new machines are bad but for different reasons.” You just understand that’s the case.
Maybe settle down a little. It’s still just a game. Complain about things that matter, not immersion. We all have rewired doggos as Companions now. Immersion isn’t a big part of this.
While I agree with you, I still think that the events of Landfall should have been implemented in a better way. I like the announcement trailer of this update. Why don’t they use this trailer at a specific point of the story and after that the soviets (and all the revamps of Landfall) are there.
They are telling a story, but forget to tell it in a way that everyone can follow. It’s just there now.
True. They could have done a lot of things better, but as most of the storytelling isn’t spelled out, literally, it still happens as you stumble upon it.
Immersion always matters, an extreme example to make my point: does an x-wing fire a few lasers at a star destroyer and kill it? so even in sci-fi u dont completely defy logic and physics or else the audience will laugh and mock ur product. As a sci-fi , imagine in SWars the USSR being involved somehow in the empire’s side… it would be a joke wouldn’t it?
Or why do think u have real weapons like mp5, ak47 , pvg 90 , a3g3 etc with the appropriate ammo?
Except for the experimental weapons and 5crown with LEDs on them , too console for me , don’t like them. Gold AKs are for drug cartel bosses , here were the good guys fighting the machines!
As for firebirds , i must say i play on PC and the vid above looks/is too easy ,
before the “strong feet” skill i was constantly kncked down , so can’t even aim must use HK immediately & repeat
after “strong feet” skill applied u still can’t fire like that on pc , incoming bullets knock ur body & aim plus the burst loses almost all ur health and u must run and heal
When u hit the engine 1-2 times it starts flying fast above u (to drop those baloon bombs) and u can’t aim easily
it also moves it’s arms up n down randomly again making difficult to hit the thrusters
in the vid above it’s already in battle and taken damage in this case its the easiest kill and u don’t even need to destroy all engines, sometimes it falls with 1-2 engines taken out.
I manage ok with new weapons and skills overall but:
its ammo blast radius is insane , i think it needs a nerf in “adventure” level , im ok with penetrating buildings like hangars (inside u still take dmg) or wooden houses but even behind cover i was looking were the shots land , 5m+ to the side/behind me they do a lot of damage like rockets , even for incendiary ammo its too much
I was fighting 2 of them including one 4 level rival (thought it would be a ground unit ahah) in a castle area plus ~ 20 white ball runners, their shots hit the castle wall ruin some meters away from me and still did heck of a damage wtf they re imba , wolves are so easy to kill but FBs sometimes are too much , i used about 60 HKits of all kinds (mostly medium n small which usually are enough) plus all the loot i found to kill the rival and left the other one, ffs.
At least they look badass (like fnix) unlike wolves and russian runners but they are imba/broken in general. 1-2 times i was chilling near a safe house not near a war zone, a mofo FB spawns and insta kills me out of the blue , very annoying n broken script it needs a revamp.
Developers read this forum. But I’m still having a hard time following your logic.
And my video was just an example that if you practice a lot, you can kill firebirds quite easily. Don’t expect this to happen in a couple of days, though.
Also, if you watch my video closely, you’ll see that I try to stop shooting as soon as the Firebird starts to shoot, to instead focus on dodging its attack and healing (and I still don’t succeed in that, since I’m hit in the last part of the video).
I’ve been shooting firebirds for a year now (since release in October 2022) - so maybe sometime in 2024, you’ll also find that they not challenging anymore.
In the meantime, adopt your tactic to fight them at your skill level.
And every situation is special.
It strongly depends on the location, the environment the class of the firebird, if there are other machines around, which weapon and ammo you use and Last but not least your skill. The correct timing for your attacks is the key to destroy them quickly. And of course the correct timing for just dodging their shots, reloading/healing.
1.Combat mode is broken , FBs never disengage , “escaped combat” pops up but in practice it’s like they never leave combat mode.
Read post 16. Am i the only one?
2.Behind strong cover mg bullets shouldn’t dmg you , nerf it’s dmg radius at least in adventure mode. There are plenty of negative reviews out there saying about no cover from enemy fire , they have a point.
( Do rivals have buffed weapons? )
3.Immersion regards the overall feel of the game , but anyway let’s leave that aside because it’s perhaps about more demanding players, although at the same time it doesn’t hurt anyone.
Another bug i remembered regards audio: when in AI vs AI far away from u their bullets hitting the ground sound like they are next to you , direction is correct but distance i not.
I don’t think that’s a bug. But who knows.
I just remember something similar when I watched a distant battle, but some shots really came down next to me.
It’s no show if they are battling each others. There are bullets and they fly until they hit something.
Don’t they use explosive rounds? (At least soldier class firebirds do; Scout class: Incendiary ammo; spetznas: Flak howitzer)
It doesn’t matter since its arcade , u just nerf it!
Otherwise its about caliber , howitzer or rockets obviously pack more explosive. Also in FB its the main weapon and its velocity is much faster than howitzers in tanks n wolves, which fire them less frequently than FBs , they also use their MGs which are much weaker and easy to cover from. Moreover their howitzers are big weakspots very easily destroyed unlike FBs.
In general flying units are a much superior platform , so the way to balance them is to have them move slowly or to nerf/buff its weapons & hit points (health).
In general when u say i may need a year’s experience to fight FBs while the rest of the units are a walk in the park , that says it all , its imbalanced! stating the obvious, If u want more difficulty u change the difficulty level any time u want. Plus u have the apocalypse class fnix which are tough.
As u progress and also play better u may want to increase difficulty , but any imbalance remains!
I don’t think so. That’s the curve of difficulty.
If every machine would be the same easy way to destroy, most where bored. It’s a challenge. Or it can be challenging. I’m fine with that.
Finally, we all have different opinions, different expectations and different experiences. That’s good. But that’s also the fact because we could argue into the one or the other direction endlessly.
I just wanted to point out that it’s often not the game that has to be changed.
Who cares , they re like rocket launchers with unrealistic trajectory which fire sideways (!), but we 're talking balance here.
I dont see any curve in difficulty , it rather a large step. Like another guy said , i play video games since 1990 , endless fps included.
“Curve of difficulty” , no offence but thats nonsense , as a matter of fact i did the last main campaign mission in the scientist house & FOA facility , in FOA absolutely no resistance , in scientist’s house minimal enemy forces, where it makes u think that’s all? That’s what’s boring.
Big boss level of difficulty was in st anna castle area with 2 FBs with a level 4 rival + ground units which was a pita and i just looted a gold AK mag (2-3 bullets more capacity from what i had)!
some posts above it was about factions balance (AI nonetheless) were Tanks=Firebirds , now its Tanks<<Firebirds
we re getting juvenile territory here
k k GZ is so perfect , in every aspect , i mean i wouldn’t even dare to touch it! It’s code is written from angels in heaven therefore pure and holy! such blasphemy to question it!
It is perfect in some way. Or it was at certain states. For me and many others.
Why else should we have spent 100s or 1000s of hours enjoying it?
Technically there is much to improve. That’s the risk of trying to make an evolving open world game with just limited ressources and trying to realize what the community wishes to see, I’d guess.
At some point the new features begin to stumble over old static code… and what we wished to get suddenly destroys the experience of what we’ve got.
Instead of trolling here around and complaining about the difficulty/the immersion/the balancing … Well, don’t you see that these are all things you personally have a problem with? But it’s not the game that has to be changed to your demands. Either it’s the wrong game for you or you are the wrong player for it.
That’s how I play video games for about 33 years now. Games are art. They are perfect as they are. But maybe not for me or you or everyone else.
Who’s trolling i m talking about scout FBs and u talk about howitzers (flak cannon) in Spetznas class.
Also a chart of in game enemies does not reflect the actual gameplay or ux.
Talking about playing a year or 1000 hours to guy who’s played less than a month…
I appreciate the difficulty too , but i don’t have a 1000 hours in game, u shift the goal posts just to argue.
All these are irrelevant since i m talking about 1st difficulty level and there’s 3 of them , if you play hardest setting and find enemies easy that’s another story/thread.
“Limited ressources” here we go again (strawman), balancing is the least work for a dev in terms of work hours and u don’t even need coding knowledge , its just values in a DB, its a matter of beta testing , ux and what u want to achieve.
“Games are art. They are perfect as they are.” lol nonsense
Seems that some of us have forgotten this isn’t for fighting. We come here to share ideas and view points. If you’re having issues perhaps adjust gameplay to overcome the challenges or ask for a working methodology to accomplish your task. You’re not always gonna win we aren’t meant to be gods at lower lvls.
Not every enemy must be beatable for everyone in every situation. That’s an open world. You may flee.
You may change your tactics. You can do what ever you want. As long as you’re able to.
