Future weather and seasonal changes to Östertörn

You’re right.
But that must be an illusion because our brain cannot process an endless nothing.

Is that from this week? :man_facepalming:

Well I do have a few hundred snowballs… But surely not everyone.

This is an amazing discussion! I’m laughing at @IanForce here…

As a person of the US, I honestly hate that I’m used to so many measurements being different from the rest of the world! It’s like we had to do everything differently as if it made things better?! :man_shrugging:

We weigh things by pounds instead of kilograms, we go by miles per hour instead of kilometers per hour, we go by Fahrenheit instead of Celsius, inches instead of centimeters, etc, etc!

Because of these standards here, I say things to friends in other countries and they have to do math just understand what I’m saying! Sadly, I’m having to do the same when they mention something like that!

Well, thanks for reading my rant! I apologize for any confusion of measurements I might use in the future and I certainly appreciate any understanding you can extend me in that regard.

Thanks for the laughs though!!

And that is exactly what it is @Vynym , just laughs and friendly banter  The mass of a potato or the temperature in the living room will not change because of the unit you are using - it is just a matter of conversion

Now, please feel free to tease us europeans for being lazy, having vacations all the time, and generally only going to work when we are in the mood for that

Nah, bud I just can’t bring myself to do that! LOL! I’m just a big giant softy! One of my fav movies is Star Trek - Into Darkness. Not just because it was a great movie all in all. But because the friendship between Spok and Kirk!

I’ve always wanted to see the strengths in differences. I loved their friendship from that! There’s always weaknesses and flaws when we look close enough. But I’d rather make fun of my own!

Like I said, I’m dumb softy! But this community is amazing! You all rock!

Now I’m gonna eat a cheeseburger, do some shootin’ off my back porch, all while wearing my “wife beater” shirt! (hopefully you know that expression for the shirt and stereotype)

Super, then I’ll call in sick for work next week (I feel slightly unmotivated) and vote for a socialist government at our next election :joy:

@Vynym I honestly think there are so many stereotypes of America and americans, that we as Europeans often fall into the trap of believing that is how all of you really are. This has only become more so over the last 10 years during the Trump-era, when only the craziest headlines make it through, and all the normality goes under the radar.

In reality, every american I have ever met in person, have been incredibly nice, and I’ve had only positive things to say about them.

And as @IanForce says, we’re just poking fun. Scandinavians in particular, love using irony in humor, but that may often be misunderstood when used in text.

(Btw, if I remember correctly, I think I once saw a video where Tucker Carlson on Fox News claimed that the metric system was in fact tyrannical, and that America stood alone against this oppressive system!)

I wouldn’t be surprised! LOL! Its why I stay out of politics. It just gets people upset. I’m a conscientious observer. I’ve made too many friends around the globe. I’m happy and content, my daughters fed, why in the world do I want someone else to die because of their ideals?

Well, I don’t want to turn it against people who have political opinions either. Respect all around you. So I’m going to head back to my corner and wish all well! Just know that this community consists of my brothers and sisters! :+1:

Do you remember the Unique Cuisines topic? @IanForce

That was a lot of fun!

I remember posting that I was making Deer jerky.
I still do, right now in fact:

And my wife still hates the smell!
My kids too, just came in and asked «what’s that stench, dad?»

It was indeed  It had absolutely nothing to do with GZ, but our favorite moderators looked the other way and let the thread unfold :+1: And it was, as I see it, a perfect example of the comradery within the forum. We cared about each other and were curious about each others cultures.

Jerky is delicious! I’ve brought it on my hikes as one of my goto midday meals. I used to make it quite regularly based on roastbeef or onglet cuts, but prices on meat in Denmark has doubled over the last few years.

Your deer cuts look delicious marinated. What’s the recipe? And did you hunt the deer youself?

Just skimmed through it again. I recall that @Mr_A1992 's list of favorite Portuguese dishes made me want to jump on a plane to Lisbon right away. I tasted Pastel de Nata in Lisbon when I was seven years old, and I still recall the moment

Exactly. It was such a good time.

Jerky is crazy good. Whenever I make it I end up eating all of it way too fast! The only other thing that is equally good has to be Tørrfisk! It’s like a drug to me.

The marinade I’m using this time was a blend of all sor of things.
For 2 kg of meat I used:
2 dl Beer
2 dl BBQ sauce
1,5 dl Soy sauce
3 Tb spoons Worchester sauce
3 Tb spoons Brown Sugar
1,5 Tb spoons Black pepper, roughly ground
Chilli, Koriander, Onion powder, Garlic powder - 0,5 tablespoons of each.

I’m thinking it might be overkill. Too many ingredients perhaps. We’ll see how it turns out.

And yes, I hunt the Deer myself.
We are 4 families who hunt together on the land of my father’s farm, along with 2 other farms combined as one hunting area. Last year we shot 12 deer, so we do have plenty of meat, both for dinner and for jerky.

Here’s from a rather succesful day last year, when we shot 5 deer in 10 minutes:

…I hope chillybeam doesn’t feel like we’re straying too far away from his request for seasonal weather changes to Östertörn. :grimacing:

So cool! It is extremely expensive to go pürsch hunting in Denmark, but my father hunted on my uncles grounds, and brought home deers for the family. Roasted deer tenderloins … :yum:

I think the photo looks very much like the forest region in GZ during winter (just saved you there, buddy ). Btw, is it a Meusser with scope and silencer you are using?

Never tried beer in the marinade  Have considered a dry sherry - it works wonders when combined with Teriyaki.

@IanForce That was an interesting discussion :cake: :hamburger: yes.
I bet there is a lot of food for you to try it.
Do you like codfish?
There is one recipe that is really tasty.
