Ohhhh hmmmm okthanks
A year ago, this achievement wasn’t working properly, so it didn’t unlock when I had collected enough.
For my part, I started up GZ after the november '19 update was installed, and when I entered a game I immediately achieved Fashionista.
Luckily, I couldn’t care less about achievements!
Other than that, I don’t know if it only counts clothing you pick up from the world, or also your starting clothes and clothes bought in DLC’s? If it’s only from pick-ups, well 200 items is a lot, especially when you consider that you’ll find every item multiple times.
So I counted all non Vanity Pack items in each of my clothing categories (ie, every category listed under the profile menu).
Does that mean I may actually be close to Fashionista’s 200?
There are multiple ways to collect clothing in total:
- Collecting items from loot containers and machines.
- Creating new characters in all available varieties, gives you all their starting clothes.
- Completing challenges.
- Buying vanity packs.
The items you get from creating new characters are all lootable from the world, so it’s possible that doing this counts toward Fashionista. The game may not “notice” if you get these items one way or the other. I would guess points 1 and 2 both count.
Points 3 and 4 probably shouldn’t count, to be fair. They might, though. I don’t know.
@FilthyLittleGodPS4
I already have 3 mule characters LOL!
But thank you for the great tips!
EDIT: maybe I’ll delete one!
From the depths of forum, comes this official explanation from dev about Fashionista and it’s requirements,
link: PS4 trophy "Fashionista" When is it getting fixed?
Just took a look at my achievement list:
First Blood - Destroy your first machine. Unlocked 1 May @ 11:49am
Fashionista - Collect 200 items of apparel. Unlocked 4 May @ 1:48pm
As I mentioned some time ago, I created ‘new’ characters with different clothes sets and started the game with each of them, then erased them. Might have boosted the acquisition rate, but not by much.
Far far far too long.
Huh, that’s interesting. Checking my Steam achievements reveals that I’ve apparently achieved Fashionista, which I was not aware of. I got the game on June 23rd and achieved Fashionista on July 21st. I haven’t actively tried to accomplish any Steam achievement at all and I’ve just focused on the game.
Now, while I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong, I’m somewhat surprised as to why anyone cares about achievements to the point of letting it bother them. Sure, they’re nice, and I understand that the feeling of accomplishment is good. But what do you actually get out of an achievement or trophy in the long run? An intangible badge in the form of a digital image, some text and some virtual points on your Steam page or Xbox/Playstation page. It’s not like it’s an actual physical trophy or medal that you display in your house or your apartment and look at all the time. Unless you go to your achievement page or trophy page every day, I would say it’s likely you’re not going to remember any given achievement there at least a month if not one week from the day you complete it.
I apologize if I seem harsh about it, but as I said I don’t think it’s wrong to want to complete achievements and I’m not judging anyone. It’s just that I consider the overall game experience to be far more meaningful. That is what matters, because the experience you have with a game is what you’re there for and it is what you’re going to remember even years from now. If achievements or trophies have even the slightest negative impact on the experience you have with a game, then they are irrelevant to it.
I have studied game development at a university level, and some scientific definitions of “game” actually state that if anything impacts the process of playing a game to the point that it completely disrupts said game and negatively changes your experience of it, then it simply ceases to be a game. So if actively chasing down achievements/trophies and completing them heightens your immersion and enjoyment of a game, then go for it. But if achievements/trophies negatively impact your experience, ignore them and simply focus on playing the game.
You’re going to get a lot of achievements/trophies by just playing the game anyway; like I said in the beginning, I just focus on playing the game, and I’ve apparently gotten 54% of achievements without trying to get even a single one.
Full disclosure?
Due to a variety of physical impediments and mental issues, I Haven’t accomplished much in my actual life. Disappointment to myself and family, etc. Getting trophies and achievements in games, especially “hardcore” ones, makes me feel accomplished in some small way, even if I do know they are essentially meaningless in real life. For example, I was one of the first people to Platinum trophy Gearbox Software’s (The people who made the Borderlands series of games) MOBA team based shooter Battleborn. Took me about 1500 hours and almost a year to do. I was…proud? I dunno, I don’t have a lot in my life, I’m highly OcD, and videogames have always filled a void in my life.
Also, my younger brother and I have an ongoing competition to see who can get more Platinum trophies. I was close to his number for a while, but then he started playing tiny little indie games almost exclusively and now he’s at 46 and I’m at 21. Lol.
EDIT: I’m currently at 68 percent of achievements for GZ. Only 8 left to get.
I’m genuinely sorry to hear that, I didn’t know! I understand fully why you want to complete achievements; your reason for doing so is entirely valid. Any feeling of accomplishment, no matter how small, is real and something to celebrate and strive for.
My post was based on my personal viewpoint and preferences, but of course I know that other players see things differently. It’s difficult for me to realize everyone else’s circumstances, so I appreciate you telling me!
I know what it’s like to have mental issues. I have ADD and it does screw up my life quite a bit, though I’ve learned to live with it. I’m not very accomplished in life either and video games fill a void in my life as well. I also know what needing accomplishments is like; I experienced it during my game development education. When I started it I had much lower self esteem than I do now, and thought that everyone else was so much better than me at everything, and I felt like I was barely scraping by. I remember that halfway through the second semester I started to realize that I was actually doing better in school than some of the other students. I got really confused because my natural mindset at the time was that everyone else was better at it than me, and I felt like something wasn’t right. I had a general sense of “How is it possible that I’m doing better than some? There has to be some sort of mistake”. It took about a week for me to accept that it was right.
It might feel like you haven’t accomplished much in life, but you have. Trust me. I am certain there are areas where you have done far more than me, such as in gaming. I have never gotten a Platinum achievement, ever, in any game on any console. You have. That is something you absolutely should proud of!
Do you want me to explain, and honest answer as to why people do for achievements?
Yes please.
@AliciaStorm thank you for the kind and understanding reply. Did you start in June 2020 or June 2019?
I thought in light of my next video being based on this very subject - that I may be able to offer you a perspective from an achievement whore like myself.
Those that complete everything, and those that don’t. Now I’m not going to slate you if your not going to get all of the achievements in a game - far from it actually. I wish I didn’t have the need to obtain 100% - but it’s been the standard since 2007 when I finally took my gamer tag online.
There was a MASSIVE culture on achievement hunting - and still is with the like of smrnov, and Stallion83 going into the millions of gamer score were asked why they keep doing what they do. In summary - it’s just part of the gaming culture they were drawn into. It’s now like an expectation - a standard expected of any game that makes the gamer card. I also, was drawn into this culture trying to get that illusive 0.01% completion ratio. In reality - it means nothing, but to the gamer card it means everything.
Now, there is the other side to achievement hunting that is a little pointless. Now, every game on my card I have enjoyed - and because of which have always aimed for 100% completion across the board. My friend however, who actually got hold of me Sunday ( after 4 years ) because he was struggling with an achievement that he had - and he knew I could help with.
Digging deeper, that’s all he’s done since we parted ways all those years ago. Achievement hunt. Any game, and title, and platform - just sits there with an Xbox and a laptop following a guide. THAT is not gaming. It’s gamer card boosting for the sake of a number. So there are two sides to it, those that just want everything they can out of a game, and those who are content with not.
I started playing Generation Zero in June 2020!
We started within week of each other!
Awesome!
Makes total sense! I play plenty of games I don’t 100 percent, and I only play games I enjoy (even when they’re frustrating the hell out of me!).
I actually had to pull the plug and go on a Xbox sabbatical for 6 months - because the 14 hours a day, ruined my mental health and general “responsiveness” around the home. Shit hit the fan, and enough was enough. It does become obsessive, but there can be a fun side. Splash damage for instance…hours upon hours trying to get it to unlock. It did, but the obsession took over.
It was only after Diesel reached out and wanted to get the gang back together for Alpine Unrest that I dusted off my controller and went back to Sweden.
I lucked out and got splash damage trophy the first time I ever threw a grenade in Gz in a bunker hallway with 4 Doggos clustered chain reaction explosion.
@FilthyLittleGodPS4 I have good news for you, so i actually went to check the trophies, i began playing on the 18th of October and got Fashionista day 26th of the same month (2 days before Rivals update), so i was actually wrong and got it with way less hours into it, not 60-100 and more between 50 and 70 hours.
I remember i did a lot of looting at the Archipelago and it i got the Trophie when looting crates in a Barn.
Good Hunting.
