every time I try and equip them the skin menu closes and the skin goes to default

basically I had my game break completely awhile ago. someone joined my multiplayer and after killing a vulture together I found most of my stuff (mainly all my DLC related items and guns attachments) was gone from my inventory, and the next day my save was corrupted when I tried to load in.
none of my receant backups would work and would crash on startup. so I was forced to use a backup from about 4 months beforehand (I only recently started backing up actively)… I’m now unable to equip DLC skins or use dlc schematic points.
EDIT: this was shortly after the vulture update and I lost around 100-150 hours of progress.
