@Mr_A1992 Xbox Series X, though my son has a Series S so we’ll be trying some co-op later.
This and the previous update have introduced some horrible FPS drops, usually related to transparent effects; smoke, fire, water splashes. Most encounters now cause drops.
It genuinely feels like we have a game that looks worse, with worse draw distances, lower detail models (all in the name of ‘optimisation’), yet at the same time we have worse performance.
This is a bit of a sorry state to leave GZ in IMHO. But here we are. All good things must come to and end one day.
Yes, its exactly that, all the performance aspects are inferior to 1 year ago, while the draw distance has been changed 2 and half years ago i believe.
I get that they can’t change everything fitting all demands of every kind of system, but if there are so many reports about FPS drops in certain situations, then it’s not optimized very well.
And at the same time the overall quality for all users gets reduced more and more. Reduced Texture qualities over distances, reduced visibility and render distance,…
At least the effects (explosions etc), reflections and lighting still seem to be as nice as 3 years ago.
But the weather…I hardly remember when I had all types of weather in one session. Rain, fog, snow, sun, lightning storms… Those have been more and more often in the past.
While overall the game is “Better”,there are more FPS issues now, the draw distance is quite short and since last year there is this weird lower detail models in many objects(as its been said earlier)
Plus the bugs they introduced with the latest updates.
I too noticed that the game does not save anymore once you are closing your inventory. But it does save if you open and close the map (the symbol in the top right corner of the screen will show for a second once you do this). So opening and closing the map before closing the game became a reflex for me.
I tried this on PC and had steady 60 FPS in that region (maybe I was not hitting the right angle) and the game is currently working for me. But my first impression after the hotfix was 20 or less FPS and horrible stuttering in Stenmyra. In the end it was again a Wolf parking close to the church. This was reported earlier and seems to be a problem with the pathfinding of the machines (esp. Wolves), because the stuttering disappeared after I managed to destroy the Wolf.
It’s quite rare. At first I noticed this at Broängen Dirt Track Control Point and it was worse in the surroundings of Lilla Dyrbo. Both locations had at least one Wolf parking or moving and destroying them put my framerate back to 60 FPS.
And if it also can happen with Harvesters, it would explain why I also crashed down to 1 FPS at Sandbo one time. This put my theory regarding the pathfinding of the Wolves at risk, but since there are Harvesters around, this might explain it.
But I would not consider this bug high priority. You can play months without encountering it and even if it’s happening, you can destroy the machine, fast travel or simply restart the game.
I probably will check back later. I wish they would just stop trying to add new stuff and focus on getting the existing stuff to actually work properly and consistently…ESPECIALLY the items in the weapons packs that we pay for.
The companion issue is very problematic. I actually like the way the new inventory carry works. It’s very fair IMO…the more you gather the slower you get…and its unlimited to an extent and you can fast travel with it as well. Not being able to use your companion reliably makes this suffer a bit in a huge battle as you cant offload some stuff to keep your running ability. I have gone to finding a notable place nearby to drop a load of items…get back in the battle…then come back to pick it up when the field is cleared.
@Madchaser …I only play solo so I dont know anything about multiplayer issues.
What I mean by vanish…this includes all items (DLC or otherwise except for mines) including the companion. It can be totally random if the item works or not. I have not seen any pattern to the issue.
For instance…I go to throw a flare out…it lights in my hand…makes the noise and when I throw it out nothing lands anywhere…it vanishes. I can throw out one after another and nothing is shown on the ground. Still shows plenty in my inventory…shows up in my hand…but never hits the ground. Go to lay a trap with mines and a fuel cell…the mines show up and work as expected…the fuel cells just vanish like they were never deployed. And so on for all the other items.
Like I said whether the items work or not seems random…sometimes they will work but most of the time they dont. The mines always work…never an issue. Maybe I shouldnt write that and jinx myself again.
The companion…sometimes at the start of gaming it will actually deploy as normal…sometimes like last night it never worked at all. At one point earlier if it did deploy I would just keep it deployed and it would stay around even when fast traveling…but as soon as I picked it up and tried to redeploy it later it would not materialize when I hit the button. Just a quick blip sound and nothing.
I dont have any way to record what is happening. I’m surprised there’s not a YT vid of it somewhere.
I only have certain areas where I get the frame drop and stuttering. Sanbo is one place I remember so I just avoid it. Or it will happen randomly when all hell is breaking loose with lots of machines fighting each other and explosions nearby.
The weather was weird last night too…snow, rain, fog…everything happening in a very short time.
Suddenly I started to throw “nothing” again. I see the throwable in my hand, preparing it and hear the sprint from the grenade or scratch sound from the flare and so on, and then throws… nothing.
At least for me on playstation I was always able to use all items I wanted to use.
Me and my mate just had the issue, that if anyone of us used an item, the other player wasn’t able to see it.
For the field radios in special it was catastrophal, but at least that should have been fixed now.
Wasn’t able to test it with my mate since the hotfix.
Regarding the companion I never had issues using it.
Honestly I have him out all the time, so maybe it’s that. Maybe, sometimes, I picked him up once or twice, but every time I placed him again he was right there.
