May 25 2023: Tactical Response Update Discussion

Nice. Can we pick them up after throwing, like re-use them?

I think @Zesiir was talking about the actual hacking skill in that comment.

O, thatā€™s a pity, I assumed it was about the dart.

Yeah, I was referring to the skill. Unfortunately I canā€™t reveal anything about the Hacking Dart yet, though you can probably guess what it does by now

@Madchaser You know, hes not totally wrong, the Dlcs are usually half broken, and half of the weapons or equipment are not really useful or do low damage.
At this point we have too many types of weapons and equipment and too few enemies types and numbers in the map to use against.
What the game needs is a new Island, new and old machines in higher numbers.

I never used any of the tactical and non tactical weapons/equipment and i bought both of the DLCs, i dont think they are bad, but i dont have a need for them.
Why use molotovs when i can easily destroy them with handguns or Lmgs?
A portable cover? i dont need a shield the machines do!
I find so many grenades and mines that sometimes i just Spam attack an Harvester or group of Hunters wth grenades lol .

Yes, variety is good, but we have too muchā€¦we just needed a god damn sniper rifle that does not look like a BB gun and is not the PVG 90.

What about the rest of the equipment Pack?
Any clues? :eyes:

There should be a short presentation of one item each day before the release. Just a little patience

The DLCs were not made just for you. They are made for people who like to try new stuff. Thatā€™s why it is optional contentā€¦ I do like you bought them anyway. Thatā€™s good for future content.

I understand the frustration about doing smaller DLCs instead of another big story DLC.
With a small team, itā€™s incredibly costly to do a story DLC like Alpine Unrest and FNIX Rising. There is a LOT of investment before you can start seeing money come back, making it a huge risk. Also, it would be pretty much all the team would be working on for like a year, so we need to get all of the other things we want to do and add done before we even think about making a new story DLC.
I do hope the little additions to the narrative we make from time to time are appreciated, though!

As for the current Equipment and other DLCs not feeling worth it: Weā€™re always open to feedback! The first Tactical Equipment Pack has seen a lot of balance changes based on player feedback that I believe will be released with the Tactical Response update.

Most of them are not perfect. Yes.
If I donā€™t play tactical, why should I buy a tactical equipment pack? You know whatā€™s inside.
There are different play styles and you cannot meet all demands with everything.

Although I donā€™t use most of the weapons I bought, I donā€™t regret to have them bought. Most times I just play with my OP setup. Well, my own fault. I should continue my second world and then I would be glad to find a dlc gun which maybe is better than an other gun I have.

And this is where my main complaint about the dlc packs lies.

  1. The chance to get them, or at least the better quality versions is low and often limited to great high classed machines and by that for late game, where you donā€™t need them any more in general.

  2. The way that everything new from a dlc pack is provided instantly as 3c version over the plundra is also a bad descition in my eyes. By that you have right from the first church the whole bunch of weapons. Ammo isnā€™t rare any more at the beginning so you get a complete wrong experience at the start.

I once suggested special repeatable missions that give you access to dlc weapons, if youā€™re succesful. Thatā€™s why Iā€™m really excited for the announced random weekly repeatable missions, as they almost sound like what I suggested, but not restricted to the dlc-packs.
BUT, once we have this working system, the devs would have the tools to improve the dlc packs afterwards in that way, too.

Besides of that I think that many of the fixed weapon locations (and weapon boxes) should be improved by giving a chance that a dlc-weapon is there instead of just always the same meusser, ag4, mƶller,ā€¦ It would add more value to the packs and the overall experience.

What is this? A door hacking Veronica style doo-hickey, or Remote Detonator?

No. That is not what I said, please read my post.

What is the point of a hacking dart when the skill exists. Either it is like the skill (or worse), which will make it pretty near useless for ā€œhackingā€, or it is better, in which case they should have just buffed the base game skill.

Even if they buffed the skill enough to make it useful, which I doubt they will, there is still no point to this.

We were told the whole point of skill point limits were for better team-play, but then theyā€™ll add this.

Maybe. But what is it used for? And what are the pins on top of it for? Antennas?
Door hacking device? Yet another hacking device? A remote detonator we already have in a pack? No. I donā€™t think so. But what else?

Maybe a device to call something in, like a field radio for ammo support. Or maybe some kind of airstrike/bombardement?

I heard they made lawn darts illegal in the early 1990s, because of safety concerns of the sharp needle, good to see a safe version of the lawn darts :grinning: OSHA approved, :+1:

Maybe itā€™s like the minutemen artillery from FO4. You call in and resistance members rain down artillery.

Yes, maybe. But with some kind of logical gap. How would the resistance be able to do that? With which guns? Letā€™s get surprised.

Or it creates a synergy between them. You donā€™t know this but you immediately assume the worst anyway. Itā€™s not a healthy attitude. Iā€™m not entirely sure what it is you want, if the gameā€™s not your cup of tea anymore then move on.

But donā€™t use the forums solely for expressing your displeasure about the game and itā€™s content, itā€™s getting tiring to see the same post over and over again.
