May 25 2023: Tactical Response Update Discussion

It’s not a weapon DLC.
It’s a tactical equipment pack. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

so if its an homing mortar for air porpose only. well i think that the homing missle should also hit ground units. because theres actually weapons that shot missles launch up high 100 meter high and then lock onto to the target most nearest.

its from crossout and you can see missles from above.

if that mortar homing misssle does that. im crafting 1000 of them and spam it to see the barrage of chaos. or did i just give devs an idea just because it sounds cool?

do you guys think it will do that?

Yes, see below…

They’ve already gotten some buffs when the Semla event started.

  • The Portable MG Turret has been buffed with increased lifetime and damage as well as reduced crafting cost and completely removed damage falloff!
  • Portable Cover now has significantly increased durability
  • Explosive Toy Lure has had its explosion damage slightly increased

Of course, due to the crafting change, we only got 1 of the item instead of 5; which hit the molotov kinda hard seeing as it didn’t appear to get any stronger.

Without breaking any agreements, I think I can safely say that you’re most likely wrong on at least a couple of those (whether or not something is “fun” is entirely subjective though).

I think a very fun prospective with the new items would for example to go stealthy with the Sensory jammer, sneak inside a FNIX camp, place a number of gas tanks, then sneak out again, and finally use RC tick to go back into the camp and trigger a giant explosion.

Or use the Toy car to lure machines in the direction of gas cannisters, and then follow them with the RC tick to trigger a similar explosion. I think there are lots of possible fun synergies with this pack.

In all honesty, I think you can set your expectations a bit higher than “everything in the pack is boring and/or bugged”… :sunglasses:

Considering how much we tested this DLC’s content (and with new amazing testers too!), I sincerely doubt we’ll see many bugs with it. We tested both in single and multiplayer.

All of the items in the DLC work just fine, and there are even synergies with active skills, such as the Hacking Dart and the Hacking skill.

One thing @SR_Carni forgot to mention about the Sensory Jammer; it renders you pretty much undetectable by Machines, unless you attack or bump into them. Fool around too much in their vicinity and you’ll be brown bread

The RC Tick spoiler:

Summary

Is controlled from a third person perspective, is quick and can even do leap attacks!

Will these synergies be described in the items showcase or do we have to find them out by ourselves?

Summary

Does it take damage by this, that it explodes after some attacks? Will it attract the machines and get targeted by them due to this?

stealth is a bit difficult in this game.
“Fun” is when you actually have fun using certain weapons and objects, they are useful and dont feel like a chore to use or to build, when you use them instead of being stored inside a box.
Having that aside, its easy to have very low expectations when we still have weapons underperforming after many months and even years (dlc weapons) and we had many updates with disastrous consequences, no one can blame people that think the way i do.
But as i said many times, i like the game and im always hoping the next update will not break the game :crossed_fingers:

How much testing got done on the console versions or was it all just PC / Steam tests?

Good question.
When I asked for testing on PS5 I got told, that there isn’t official testing on console.
Ok, maybe it’s due to restrictions of consoles and their sales systems / versioning and that they are just able to test by themselves on dev systems. :man_shrugging:

At least I hope that those performance optimizations on consoles are tested…

I’ve done years of beta testing under NDA on PS4, PS5, and all flavours of Xbox, as well as mobile, Steam, Microsoft store, Oculus VR and even Stadia for studios both bigger and smaller than Systemic Reaction.

It can certainly be done. Some studios manage it in-house, some outsource it to third party companies who handle the contracting of testers etc.

I really hope there’s a decent pool of testers across all versions on both current and last gen. My fear is that it’ll be PC led with just cursory testing on console.

We’re only testing on PC. As far as I know, console testing is only done internally.

That’s a walkie-talkie, not a brick phone. I realize kids who weren’t alive in the 90’s, much less the 80’s, wouldn’t know that, so this is just informative, not a callout.

True. As described, I’d pay about $5 for it. Not really worth more, because two items are either a replacement for or in addition to talents I already take on my alts, so I’m going to have to redo several talent trees, even if I don’t buy the DLC, and that’s annoying. Plus, the rest don’t address the actual problems in the game, and fixing them don’t seem to be on anyone’s agenda, just monetizing more bling. This game doesn’t have enough play to call fashion shows an end-game.

I don’t think it’s fashion show.
Skins are. But not new equipment.

Redoing skill trees isn’t annoying.
It’s an ability. If you have enough uranium, you can do that whenever you want to test and improve your playstyle.

And DLCs aren’t there to address problems, except you see the absence of some special weapons or equipment as problem…

Well, I don’t want to change your opinion. They are free to choose and it’s up to everyone’s taste and budget.

As stated on twitter the price will be at initial 5,99 €/$. There will for sure be a discount some day.

Although I currently don’t play the game much, I’m excited for the update and will buy the DLC for fun.

Oh, almost forgotten… They fix issues. But it’s not like turning on a fuse again if the light goes out suddenly… Some are easy to find and easy to fix, some need much search and testing.

Edit:
Ok, just bought the DLC on PS5 and will test it today evening. I’m excited.

I was told to not judge the update/DLC before it came out but it seems I was right in almost every aspect.

The DLC

Most of the items seem useless except for the rocket turret (which seems overpowered), and the hacking dart (which isl iterally just the skill but better). They did buff the skill, but as far as I can tell only increased the hack duration. This was never the problem with the skill. The problem is that it had too low of a chance to work and did basically nothing when it did.

Overall, seems to be yet another low quality micro pack.

Procedural Missions

They claimed it would take “10-20 minutes to complete”. I was able to complete mine in about 3 minutes. They also said “through certain randomized aspects, ensures that no two players will play exactly the same mission”. This was also, intentionally or not, a lie. Me and my friend had the exact same mission.

We also get to complete them once per week. Even once per day this would be a severe lack of content. So now we get a generic mission that takes about 5 minutes once per week.

Bugs

My game still crashes, and even better now, it bluescreens. I have played about 40 minutes and blue screened twice and crashed once.

I was also teleported to the POV of my friends’s tick despite the tick already having exploded, and me also not even owning the DLC.

Overall this DLC offers little in content and fixes that actually improve my game. It did add a cool feature that sends me back to my desktop so I can go instantly to a game that cares more for higher quality content and fixes.

I didn’t buy the DLC yet, but I watched a review on YouTube made by @tene and the pack looks so fun!

I think there’s no useless equipment in this pack, @MarkNcheese42 , because the Sensory Jammer can cover you for a minute from machines, the Toy Car Lure goes so far and can distract many enemies and the Tick is just so fun to use. You can enter FNIX bases without being detected, jump and even explode! :muscle:

I know that the new mission is kinda short and easy to complete, but it’s something fun to do when you don’t know what to do next. Also they have pretty good loot like 5c attachments. Me personally I’m curious about the next two types of missions :slightly_smiling_face:

So the update seems to be nice! :+1: I respect all opinions and I know that every single one is acknowledged by the Team.

Yeah the crashing has gotten significantly worse on PS4, I completed the new mission in less then 5 minutes (not counting the freezing and frame rate drops), then it immediately crashed my whole console. Literally had to hard reset it.

Im canceling the download then…
Damn…they are always neglecting console versions!
I was actually excited for new stuff.
Its always the same thing.
New update–= New crashes/issues
Why cant they test it properly?
Now its either 1 week for the fix or another 3 months…

You know, thousands of hours and around $70 bucks later, I think I might finally shelf GZ.

I think at this point, whatever update I’m funding buying all these micropacks will probably be broken and rushed out before it’s even fully realized as a concept anyways…just like most free updates.
